The Baby Has Already Dropped

I am only 32 weeks along and my baby has already dropped. Is this a sign of preterm labor? What does this mean for the baby and me?

Call your doctor and tell them that you have felt changes in your body. You feel the baby has dropped and you would like to come in and be checked. Also ask for a v____al ultrasound to see how thick your cervix is. It may be thinning out however, everything may be completely normal. I would contact the doctor and get in asap and also stay off your feet until the appt. Congrats on the prenancy.

Also, if you see that your tummy is getting hard and then soft, go to the hospital. I was having preterm labor and contractions during my first pregnancy and didn't know it. I am not trying to scare you or anything but I just wish someone would have told me about these things while I was experiencing my pregnancy.

Thanks Lynne. I appreciate your suggestions. I have an regular scheduled appointment tomorrow morning at 9am. Do you think I should call them anyways instead of waiting for my appointment?

Katie-if all you have noticed so far is that the baby has dropped...I would say just wait until your appt tomorrow. The baby many times will tend to drop weeks before anything starts to happen. As long as you are not having contractions, you can definately wait one day. I am on pg number 5 right now, and my experiences have been that I usually drop around the last month or so. It just means that the baby is settling down into your pelvis like they are supposed to. Doesn't mean you are going to jump into labor right away. Best wishes for you.
