Ladies i need your opinions. I had a miscarriage on Dec 16th 2006. I have a 4 cm fibroid that is intruding into my uterus 40%. The doc could not determine the reason my baby died, we did see a heartbeat on my 9 week ultrasound.I went for an appointment today to do a saline ultrasound. He said that he wanted to refer me to a friend of his to "shave the fibroid down". Well of course i dont have insurance to do this. He told me if i was to get pregnant again and the baby implanted on the fibroid, i would miscarry again. I dont think thats optomistic. I dont know but i am devestated. I am on Pregnancy medicaid and i cant afford the surgery, but i wont another baby. Would you ladies ttc again knowing this ? I have read alot of boards and i see women go on to have healthy pregnancies with fibroids. I just dont know what to do. HELP!

I sadly have just been told this week that I have had a m/c I got tomorrow for a ERCP. I was told at my first scan that I have a bicoruate uterus and a fibroid 2.5 x 1.7cm within the posterior myometium (whatever all that means) I was suffering very bad with long heavy periods before my pregnancy so now think it was down to my fibriod. Sorry I can't answer your questions but I really want to know the same as you. I don't think that I can go through this again.

Misty, I have a 4cm fibroid too in the wall of my uterus. So I've been having regular u/s with this baby to make sure everything is okay. The baby's placenta is on top of this fibroid and of course I was worried and still am, but the doctor says as far as she can see, the baby is doing okay and the risk is there but minimal. I think it depends on location of the fibroid. I am currently 27 weeks and the baby is doing fine, so yes...women can go on to have normal pregnancies with fibroids and your fibroid isn't even that large. Hugs and best of luck!

Thank you all so much. My doctor was always telling me different things. First the fibroid was on the top left, then it was on the top, and finally today he said it was on the back of my uterus in my lining and it was distorting it.. At my nine week ultra sound(i had a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks)he said the baby was nowhere near the fibroid and it was no distorting it. When i found out the baby had died 3 weeks later he said the babys placenta was implanted directly over the fibroid. So i'm wondering what in the world is the real truth.

Minimag, i'm sorry to hear about your loss, it's such a silent grief. My miscarriage has been the hardest thing i have dealt with thus far in my 32 years. I have three kids ages 17,15,and 9, but t am still a mother to four children, one of them is just in heaven. I guess thats why this miscarriage just shook my whole world, i carried my oldest three without any complications. My period just started yesterday for the first time after my d&c so im glad my bady can get back on track. Jessica: please keep me informed how your pregnancy progresses. Your an inspiration. HOPE.
