has anyone had vasa previa? my sil had this along with a prolapsed umbilical when she gave birth in january, unfortunatly this wasnt picked up in her us scans and her little boy didnt make it. i was just wondering if anyone has been through this and what there outcome was. we have had meetings with the doc who cannot give a definite reason as to why this happened. short story of what happened to her: she went into labour and went to the hospital at 10pm it was her 5th baby and new something was not right the monitor showed baby under stress with variable decelerations of fetal heart plus she also was bleedng heavy but the midwife never called for a doc until 3am . 2 midwives felt the cord but the doc says he didnt and went ahead and broke the waters and alot of blood and cord came out she was then rushed to theatre for an emergency c section. my sil was later told that she had vasa previa, prolapsed umbilical and a placenta ubruption. the ubruption probably happened when she went to hospital and started bleeding but the midwife had failed to tell the doc about the blood loss and never wrote it in the medical reports. the noted cause of death was perinatal asphixia, all this said the doc cannot give us a definite reason as to why this happened and cant understand himself as to why he died. should the midwife have called the doc when the deceleratins started? sorry if this is tmi to post but we cant seem to find anything about this and trying really hard to understand it, thank you in advance for any information you can help me with «-(¯`v´¯)-»
