Well, I tried to miscarry naturally, and started miscarrying on April 23 at 9 wks pregnant...I tried for 9 weeks of bleeding, and started hemmoraging again on June 27th. I had a ultrasound done on the 28th, and they still saw retained tissuen(after 9 wks of miscarrying) and was sent immediately to the hospital for a d& c. The procedure lasted 5 minutes, and within 15 minutes I was awake in the recovery room. I had very little pain afterwords - didn't take any painkillers - just pain like a period for a couple of hours, and I am now 1 week from the d&c and seem to have finished bleeding. I now keep wondering why I didn't do this sooner. They say that usually with a 1st trimester miscarriage that you can do it on your own, and I spent 2& a half months trying to do it on my own. I would tell anyone to seriously consider having a d&c...to all that are experiencing a loss, I am truly sorry. There are a lot of great girls on this thread, and they are a great support group. Feel free to share your stories...Lisa

llisab, I am so sorry you took so long, but some women prefer a natural miscarraige over a d/c as some women think that a d/c scars you, I know of a women who waited 12 weeks then didnt go to have a d/c until after she got an infection, I had been reading alot on here about wether to have a d/c as I was in the week between when I found out and when I had to choose wether to go in and have the procedure, well I decided to have the procedure so a week after finding out our baby had died I went in th thetre and it to a whole of 10 mins , but I was in recovery alot longer as I had bad bleeding but they stopped that with some shot of something, which made me go all funny , I didnt get any pain or bleeding after that until 24 hours later, then I only bleed for 3 days, but spotted for a week further, my personal opinion is to have a d/c as I couldnt cope with the waiting to m/c, and also the sooner you remove the dead fetus the sooner you can ttc again, I know that sounds wrong but, ttc is what has kept me going.....well thanks for giving your opinion...this is what I am hoping for in the future, so that women who have to make the choice that we had to make have a source of infomation...thanks again....how soon are you going to ttc again?
