Anxiety After Miscarriage

After ttc for 2 years, my first pregnancy ended in miscarriage. At 8 weeks they discovered a blighted ovum, and I had a D&C on 8/30/05. The procedure and physical recovery seemed to go ok, and I even started to feel better emotionally. Until this week-- my first period is done, and the doctor says we can start ttc again. Suddenly, I'm filled with crazy anxieties. Not just that I'm going to lose the next pregnancy. I worry that if my husband's late coming home from work, he's been in an accident. I'm finding the evening news upsetting-- I worry about a bird flu pandemic; I feel overly sensitive to any violence I see on TV. I should probably mention that it's been a rough 2 years for us in other ways (deaths in the family, financial ups and downs), so maybe this is all just too much. I guess my question is, has anyone else felt just general anxiety after a miscarriage?

YES! Lots of anxiety. The first time my hubby and I had s_x after my m/c I cried buckets. Seriously. Miscarriage is just horribly upsetting - and hormones only make it worse. It is so normal, what you are experiencing. There's no timeframe for "getting over" something like this, and I'm not sure you ever really do. But I can tell you that after a couple of months, I started having more good days than bad days, and it seems to be getting better with each pa__sing month. There is a light at the end of the tunnel - just give yourself all the time you need to get there, and do it YOUR WAY, no matter what anyone else tells you is "normal" or "abnormal". I am so sorry for what you've been through, especially after trying so hard. I hope your next conception happens much quicker, and that you will have a totally healthy and happy pregnancy. The odds really are in your favor for that. Take good care of yourself.
