Can The HCG Level Be Wrong With Twins

My stepmother is pregnant with twins, she has an iud in place. Today she started cramping and spotting, when she had her hcg levels ran today they were lower than before, is it possible for one fetus to be in miscarage mode and the other not.

It is possible to loose one and not the other yes. However, while I don't know for sure, I think your HCG levels should still be high, so if they are dropping a lot, I'd certainly ask the doc what that means for both twins. Good luck and I'm saying a prayer for your stepmother and the little ones she's carrying.

From what I have read many women lose a twin, vanishing twin, and there HCG levels drop somewhat because the body isnt producing for two anymore and they go on and have healthy babies. My mom had my little brother and his twin vanished around 8 weeks. Take care
