Hi girls, I need your help! I had a second miscarriage in feb 06 and i had my 1st miscarriage in june of last year which was a partial molar pregnancy. I had a D&C for this miscarriage and the doc told me that from the tissue of the baby there is a possibility of ANOTHER MOLAR PREGNANCY! On the scan there was no sign of this sort of preg but i was onlt 5.3 weeks and the blood test they did my levels were to low. Why cant they give me a deffenent answer if it is or not it's killing me. What do u girls think, y is the doc doing this does it sound like a molar preg to u? What makes it worse is if it is i have to have chemo! Plz help i need support.

Kristie - I am so sorry to hear about what you are going thru. I personally have not experienced a molar pregancy, but a friend of mine has. She was told to wait a full year before TTC again. She was also given these pills that are an incredicibly low dose chemo. The doctor said that it was a smaller dose than what they give to people having a bad ecsema (sp? You know, the skin rash thing) flair. It would just prevent those cells from coming back. I know she had a couple of u/s during that year as well to keep an eye on what was going on in her uterus. After the year, she got pregnant again within two months. Sorry I couldn't be more of a help. Hopefully someone here has experienced a molar and can give you first hand advice. Best wishes!

Kristie, I'm sorry you are having to go through this. They didn't tell you it's definitely a mole though, right? My dr. told me afte my D & C they thought mine was a partial mole and it turned out not to be. I don't know anyone personally, but my best friend has a friend that had a molar pg. She did chemo, waited a year to ttc and now has 2 healthy children. Let's just hope and pray right now that the test is negative. Let us know.

What is a molar pregnancy?

Hi Megan. A molar pregnancy is when a sperm fertilizes an empty egg and a partial molar pg is when 2 sperm fertilize one egg. It can be serious because with a molar pg there is no fetus, it is all abnormal cells. If any are left over after a D & C, they can spread throughout your body. The only way to get rid of these cells is with a low dose of chemotherapy. Dr.'s make you wait for a year to ttc because first of all if you do conceive and you have abnormal cells leftover they will attack the fetus. Secondly, the only way to tell that the cells are growing again is with a bfp. So if you get a bfp the dr. doesn't know whether you are pg or need chemo. It is rare, but can get very complicated. There is like a 99 - 100 % cure rate though if treated properly.

Hi parker. Amolar pregnancy is a pregnancy where u have no baby but a mole that is deadly.

Christy, thanks for explaining that to me! I had seen some people post about it, but never really knew what it was.
