ClearBlue OPK

This might not belong here, but am putting it allover b/c not sure where the question should fall (and since I am in this one the most, after having a miscarriage..)....Ok, I just used a ClearBlue Easy opk test. It was my first time using it and the line was almost as dark as the test line. Then I read on www.peeonastick.com that they were bad and hard to read b/c a pos. isn't as dark as test line. Has anyone ever used these and were they easy to read? Before this I was using Target brand and it was always lighter than test line (wasn't o'ing yet). HELP!! Oh, made my neighbor and hubby look at it and they both said it's similar to test line, but a bit lighter- not much.

Stacey, I used to use them (now I use the computer one, which is more expensive upfront but the results are extremely clear; the monthly costs are about the same and you get 10 days per month). From what I remember, on the peesticks, the Lh surge line needs to be as dark as or darker than the test line. A lighter line may show up in the couple days leading up to the surge. I say, stick with the every-other-day s_x until you get a darker line (that way, even if it doesn't clearly get darker, you will still have had s_x and gotten those swimmers in there!). Good luck! P.S. You must have a really nice neighbor! :-)

Hey Julie C- I was just looking at the site for ClearBlue easy and was thinking of you as I was reading about your tester. I just came back from Costco-big wearhouse types of shopping and that's the brand they had so I got it. On the directions of these, they say line shold be similar- well, it almost was. Just that in my cheaper brand- the line was so faint, that I could def. tell it was neg. This one I counted as pos. figure if I can't def. tell then it must be something. We'll see as I take more. As for my neighbor, yeah she's great- we lucked out when we moved here- lots of young neighbors, all about the same age, all newlyweds like us, and all about ready to start families :) I think b/c of the unsureness of the line, we'll do an extra baby dance tonight :)

I have never used the kits to predict ovulation. Are they easy to use...? I hope to ovulate next week. The first time trying to get pregnant we hit it the first time, with my second son we took 8 months to get it right and this last time (m/c) we hit the jackpot again on the first try. So I am hopefull to first try on our own. We're planning on trying every other night starting two days before I should ovulate..... I am hoping to have a girl and they say to have s_x before you ovulate.... then the girl seedlings..(?) are stronger than the boys... We'll see.... I knwo hubby doesn't mind. He complains because I reall haven't been in the mood lately. Anyway, 'we'll see who gets pregnant first....

(when I answered, I didn't know for sure if that was you!) It's been a year, but I think my surge lines were as least as dark as . . . although there is so much interpretation to it! You're right. Better to be on the safe side than to miss it! (Isn't it funny how, for most of us, all our adult lives once we're s_xually active "being on the safe side" meant doing whatever to NOT get pregnant . . . now we dread that period!) Anyway, more power to ya! Hopefully in a couple weeks you'll have good news and some inspiration for us all!

You, too, Petra! Good luck (although sounds like you're already pretty lucky with your timing!) Yes, the opk is really easy. Just get up in the morning and pee on the stick, just like a preg test! When one line is as dark as (or close to :)) the test line, that's your Lh surge. . . ovulation should happen within the next 12-24 hours or something like that . . .

Petra- you are lucky! We didn't try for too long either before we got pregnant the first time (missed m/c). I went off b/c in end of Oct and we were pregnant by end of Dec. Hope it's that easy again- just scared that it'll take us a while, or worse yet, I won't ovulate :( I read that- about the girls too. Well, good luck and then we'll know if it's all true! :) JULIE C- isn;t_t hysterical- I just said that to someone the other day- always trying to not get pregnant and then when you finally are, you realize how lucky you have to be to get it on that one shot!!
