Clomid To Help Hormone Levels

Hi! I have a healthy 1 1/2 year old and have experienced two miscarriages since he was born. I just got the go-ahead to start trying again, and my doctor suggested I could take Clomid to help keep hormone levels up. My understanding is that Clomid is to help ovulation (which I have no trouble with). Anyone else out there taken Clomid to help hormone levels (not ovulation)? I'm kind of nervous about doing it...the chances for twins go up, and I don't want to take pills if they're "helping" a problem that I don't have! My first pregnancy was text book, so I know my body can do it..pills seem kind of artificial, but I'd do it if it will help my son have a brother or sister! Thanks for any help/suggestions!

M - I have heard of taking Clomid to up the production of hormones. I believe that you start taking it on day 14 or when you ovulate to spike your hormones for the second part of the month to make your uterus more inhabitiable. Then you stop taking it when you get your period. So the idea is that it shouldn't affect your ovulation for the next month. You should ask your Dr though what the statisics are for multiple births for people taking Clomid for just the second half of their cycle. Are you currently taking progesterone at ovulation? Have they suggested Hcg injections when you get pregnant? Best wishes!
