Did You Bury Your Baby Name Your Baby

I'm 12w4d today but I know my baby stopped developing 4 weeks ago. At my OB appt today, I'll most likely be scheduling a D&C. I feel like I won't be able to accept this since it's not happening naturally. I was wondering if any of you asked to take the baby home after your D&C. Did anyone name their baby? TIA.

snickelfritz, I know what you're going through and I'm so sorry it is happening to you. It is a very sad and confusing time for you, I'm sure. I had a D&C at 12 weeks after fetal demise when I was 21 and asked the same questions you did. They would not release the fetus to me, telling me it had to be released to a funeral home at atleast 20 weeks gest and were also unable to determine the s_x of the child due to underdevelopement. The hardest thing was to leave the hospital empty handed, heartbroken and never to know if my first child was a boy or girl. It was simply over... In my heart, I think it was a little girl, but I never named her. To this day, I regret that decision. Knowing that different hospitals have different policies, ask if you are able to have your child for burial (if this is what you want) and although there will be no birth or death certificate, name your child for yourself. Acceptance of what has happened will not come quickly, but it will come. I took a lot of long walks and I let myself cry every single day until day until one day I realized that I made it all the way through a Thrusday without one single tear. Each day after that was easier. I'm so sorry for your pain. Good luck to you.
