After 4 positive pregnancy tests starting at 10 dpo and then af showing up right on schedule I'm now positive I'm having a miscarriage. I feel as though I'm having contractions, and the clots I'm passing are huge. I've had small blood clots before during my period but these are huge, sorry if TMI but one of them I passed was over 2 inches long and a couple millimeters in diameter. I just don't understand why this is happening to me. Should I talk to a doctor about it? I know it is very common, but I don't want it to happen again should I go to the doctor once it is all over and have them check out my cervix and uterus? PS I'm 20 years old and I have an 18 month old son that was born by c-section after 4 hours of pushing and last I checked I'm slightly anemic I don't know if any of that has anything to do with this miscarriage but maybe it does?

Hi Rhamel, sorry that this has happened to you. You are having a chemical pregnancy. A lot of women have them. It is a very early miscarriage. I had one in March. You should call your doctor and speak to a nurse. She will tell the doctor what is happening and they will let you know when you should come in. Again, I am so sorry. Good luck.

I am very frustrated and scared right now. My husband is in the military so it's very difficult to get ahold of our primary care doctors, well I finally got a hold of the office and I told the lady on the phone what happened. All she would tell me is to go to the emergency room. I don't feel like I need to go to the emergency room. While the blood clots are abnormally large the bleeding itself doesn't seem any heavier than normal. My husband is at training right now so I have no way of contacting him. I don't want to go to the emergency with my 18 month old and I am 3000 miles away from my family. I REALLY don't feel like it's time for me to go to the emergency room.

rhamel, I'm so sorry. I know what it is like as I too have had a chemical pregnancy as well as a m/c at 8 w. It's hard to loose your child even when it is so early. If you need some girls to talk to after all of this, we're all here and we all know what it's like. Anyways, as you said chemical pregnancies are extremely common (estimated to occur 40-60% of the time), however the majority of women who have chemical pregnancies never even realize that they are pregnant and just think that maybe their period was a little strange. Therefore many of them never see a doctor. However, while it doesn't sound like you are in any serious need of medical help, you probably should get checked by a doctor at some point just to be on the safe side. A lot can happen if your body doesn't expel everything correctly and such so it's better to be on the safe side. With my chemical pregnancy I wasn't late for my AF at all, but had thought I was pregnant. A hpt had come out neg the day before I got AF though so when I got AF I thought I wasn't. My AF was normal, but a day after it got over I started bleeding again so I knew then that I was m/c and at that point and hpt came out positive. I ended up bleeding for 15 days over a 17 day period. While you probably wont bleed that long, if you're already anemic you might want to talk to a doc. about that. Also, my doc. wanted to do an ultrasound b/c they wanted to be absolutely sure that it was a chemical pregnancy and not a tubal. So...while I'm no expert, if I was you I'd probably call the doc. back and tell them that I don't need the ER, but that I should see a doc in the next day or two. You could also ask to specifically have your doc. call you back when he/she gets a break or at the end of the day when they are done seeing patients. Most doc. will do that... Also just wondering you said the lady on the phone told you to go to the ER. Did you get a hold of the nurse or was it just the receptionist? Because if it was the receptionist she shouldn't have told you to go anywhere she should have had your doc or your doc's nurse call you back. Anyways call the office back and either demand that your doc. call you back or demand that you get fit into your docs schedule tonight or tomorrow. --and if the bleeding gets worse before you can go in, than go to the ER. Anyways, again I'm sorry it must be really hard especially not having your dh or family there to help you. I'll be praying that everything turns out okay with you.

SaraH, thank you. It was the lady that answered the phone, so I am pretty sure that it was just a receptionist and it was 15 minutes before the office closed so I think she was just trying to rush me off the phone before she had to actually get a doctor or nurse involved. I am going to call tomorrow and demand that I be seen by a doctor in a doctors office not the ER. The clotting stopped and now it just seems like my normal period again. But my face and neck are pale I look sick, so I am going to make sure that if nothing else they check my iron levels because I think it is getting too low.

Hi Ramel, i was on your thread for a while over on the signs of pregnancy board. I am so sorry for what you're going thru. It might be an idea to get a docs apt asap. just to get checked over. you are not alone, all the women on this board are great, and everyone has been in the same boat at one time or another. so if you need someone to talk to you have come to the right place! Take care.

Hi Rhamel, I know exactly what you are going through. I was 9 weeks into my pregnancy and miscarried last week, on 4th of July. With me, it started with brown discharge this past Saturday. Sunday i started bleeding with mild cramping. I went to the ER and they told me i was still pregnant but had what they called a "threatened aborttion" where i could loose the baby. Finally on Tuesday, I was having really bad cramps were i felt were similar to contractions. I had huge clots which I saved to take to my dr. I had pa__sed the baby. Now im getting myself back together emotionally and mentally and will try again soon.. See your Dr soon, they will need to do an ultrasound to make sure what is going on.. Sorry ..
