Getting Pregnant After A D Amp C

I had a threatened miscarriage and a D&C was done last Friday. I asked my doctor when we can try again and he gave me a generic answer of it should be safe after 1 menstrual period. I have a follow-up with the doctor who did the D&C in two weeks, and will also discuss it with him. But I am very curious to know what other people have experienced after getting pregnant after this. I've read a lot on the internet and the answers vary so much. I am very anxious to get pregnant again, but want to be cautious if it could be harmful.

Hi, glaserjk. I'm so sorry about your loss. I had my D&C back at the end of September and I, like you, was extremely anxious to try again. My doctor recommened to wait two cycles. Naturally I didn't want to wait that long but she a__sured me this would give my next pregnancy the best possible healthy start I could provide. Well, after statements like that I would have felt guilty and paranoid had I gotten pregnant beforehand. To my knowledge there really is no proven "wait time" for something like this and it just seems to vary from doctor to doctor. I totally think you should wait at least one cycle...let things clear out and get ready to go again but after that...it's up to you and your doc and how YOU feel about it. I don't know if that helped at all but I struggled with the same question for a long time and due to circ_mstances beyond my control (my HCG levels took two and a half months to get back to zero) I was forced to wait so now I'm ready to go again. Best of luck to you, glaserjk and take care.

Thank you for your reply jstaley1228. I plan on waiting atleast one cycle, I've set my mind on that. I really appreciate the advice.

Hi there, I had a d&c after a missed miscarriage (Dec 23) and was told by my ob/gyn to wait 1 cycle before trying again. I don't even think I asked him why...I just decided to take his advice! If I didn't wait and something happened again, I would be forever wondering if I could have prevented it! Good luck, I'm sorry you are going through this.
