HCG Dropping Does This Mean

Im in the middle of a miscarriage at 7 weeks. My HCG is dropping very quickly, approximately 3,000 every 48 hrs. Do HCG levels drop when the pregnancy is no longer viable? Or when the embryo has actually detached from the uterus and is in the process of being expelled.... anyone know?

I think that is a very good sign. The conception material, including placenta, likely is collapsing now, so I would suspect that you should be spotting soon. I began spotting two weeks after the heartbeat stopped when my HCG was at 7,000 (from about 36,000 at 8-1/2 weeks). I pa__sed the baby two weeks after the baby's heart stopped, and my HCG fell to 7,000 and then dropped to 1,200 3 days later. I'm really sorry for your loss.

So sorry your going through this and yes HCG levels drop when the pregnancy is no longer viable. My HCG levels were dropping during my missed m/c they went from 6900 to 2500 in about 2/3 days and I had a u/s that showed the fetus still inside. i was suppose to be 11 weeks 1 day baby pased at 6 weeks 6 days. When I finally m/c'd naturally I pa__sed a large amount of tissue with everything attached to it, it was the tissue that detached from the uterus.

So the declining hcg levels make things deteriorate faster? Ive been bleeding for 17 days... but only for 5 days have my levels been dropping. So will the decreasing HCG levels, now help my body to pa__s the tissue? I really dont want to do Cytotec.. and thats what my dr is contemplating...
