How Do You Know The Exact Mc Date

How do you know the exact date you miscarried. People on here always say they miscarried on a specific date. I thought it was like just bleeding over a period of time. Will you know when you actually miscarry? I am not sure if I have or not. I have had bleeding for 2 weeks light and then heavier for a few days at a time. Then I stopped and now heavier again. Will I have one day of really heavy bleeding?

Hi megan (?)..... Most of the time, the majority of us will not be able to pinpoint the exact date that our m/c began, especially if it is a 'missed m/c' (ie. the embryo/foetus dies but the bleeding etc does not happen immediately). So I think that in many cases a m/c is dated from the time you start bleeding etc. My m/c started on the 31st December, and on the 3rd of Jan I had a d&c, so in my case my official m/c date (and thus the first day of my new cycle) was the 3rd. When you say you're not sure wether you have had your m/c or not - do you mean you're not sure if you've actually pa__sed the embryo/foetal membranes? I read on one of your earlier posts that you had your m/c quite early - so in this case you probably won't see any discernable membranes in your bleeding (sorry for being so graphic :( If you are concerned about your bleeding etc I would recommend you speak to your doctor - sometimes our bodies don't pa__s everything in the uterus - hence the need for a d&c. Not sure if this helps?? XX

I pa__sed a big (like orange to grapefruit sized) ma__s of tissues after a few hours of pretty intense cramping and super heavy duty bleeding. That's the day I consider to be my exact date. I don't know what I'd consider it to be if I hadn't done that.

That is what I meant juju, that I don't know if I have pa__sed everything or not. The baby never even started developing for me, so I know I won't pa__s anthing that I would be able to see. I just have had really light bleeding since Jan 28, i mean more like spotting of and on. Feb 6-7 I had more closer to period like then spotting then on the 9th I stopped, I just had really light spotting only when I went to the bathroom, so I thought I was done. Then last night I started having more red blood and today more bleeding. It has never even been as heavy as a period. So I just don't know if I am almost finished or just getting started. Does that make sense? I guess I am waiting for heavy bleeding so I actually feel like I pa__sed something. my doctor told me I might just spot bc my body could absorb a lot of it. I have had blood work done every week since the 28th. On the 28th hcg was 889, then the 3rd 719, then the 9th 339. My doctor said he would like them to go down faster, I thought that seemed pretty good. I guess I am just trying to figure out if I am finishing up with everything (meaning I have almost pa__sed all the tissue) or if my body hasn't even gotten started yet. My first obgyn wasnt really helpful so I went to my family doctor who has been doing my blood work until I could get into to see a specialist on the 21st. How much bleeding did you have? Was there a day or few days you really bled heavier? I don't know what to expect. I have talked to a few people who have miscarried at about 5-6 weeks, but I don't know if mine would be the same, since nothing started developing. so my sac on the photo print out was only about 1/2 the size of a grain of rice, and my friends who got pregnant literally the same day as me, was about the size of a quarter or bigger. So I think that means I obviously wouldnt have near as much to pa__s as I would if the pregnancy had of progressed normally. I just dont know!!! Any advice?

at what rate did your alls hcg drop?

Once the hcg producing tissue is out of your body, the hcg has a half life of 48 hours. So if it was 2000 on Monday, it would be 1000 on Wednesday, and 500 on Friday, and so on... If it is not dropping that fast or not at all, there can still be some placental cells somewhere in the uterus. Usually it will eventually quit producing hcg. But you are not technically back to "normal" until it goes below 5.

Oh, and my second m/c was really early so there wasn't too much to pa__s. So I considered the day I started having period-type bleeding as the day I m/c. My other two m/c's were further along. The first one was a missed m/c at 15wks so even though I don't know the exact day the baby died, I count the day we found out the baby was dead as my m/c date. My third m/c I had 4 hours of severe cramping and pa__sed lots of tissue during that time so I count that as the m/c date.

Hi Parkermegan- re: bleeding after m/c......I bled for 3 days prior to my d&c; then afterwards I bled fairly heavily for a few days; then over the next week or more it peetered out to just spotting. I was 8 weeks when I m/c'd, so I would've had more to 'pa__s' than what you would've had at 5 weeks. I am not a doctor, however it does sounds like you may have some sort of residual hormone or pregnancy membrane in your body - and until it pa__ses you may continue to have bleeding on and off. You may not have heavy bleeding at all, so I wouldn't worry about that. When your hcg levels are back to zero then you will ovulate as per normal. I would have thought that by now your hcg levels should be pretty low, if not zero?? Are you having another blood test soon? If not, I would just do a hpt that detects low levels of hcg.
