im 16, and i just found out i was pregnant on thursday. i took an at home test then and on friday and they both came back positive. i took one today at the urgent care and its positive. but when i went to the ER for an ultra sound the couldnt see any baby in the uterus. since im bleeding and had cramps for 2 days they said most likley its a miscarraige which is devestating for me. i want to know whether to keep my hopes up or follow the dr.s advise. is it possible that im just very early pregnant like a few days to a week.?????????

Hi Nikki. When did your last period start? Pregnancies are usually measured from the first day of your last period. At 5-6 weeks it can be common for a scan to not be very clear yet and it to be hard to see very much at that point. Were the cramps and bleeding the few days prior to your scan? Are you still bleeding? xxx

Everyone handles miscarraiges different. I have had 4 m/c and 3 of them were unbearable and I had to be admitted to the hospital. It is not unusual not to be able to pick up a heart beat or image at an early stage. Bedrest and a follow up to a good OB is best. Good luck. If I can help please let me know

Kelly I am so sorry you have had 4 losses-I have recently suffered my third (no children) and am in the midst of tests. Have you had any tests done? Again I am so sorry to hear what you have been through. xxx

Alison, I went through genetic testing after the 3 m/c and it told us nothing. I found out after the birth of my 4 child that my husband and I have different blood types and they are not compatable. There is hope though, I have had 3 children by him, it just took awhile. Have you been through genetic testing yet? Usually Dr's test after the 3rd m/c. Also check on your blood type and his. I am O-positive and my husband is A-negative.

Thanks Kelly, I am sorry to hear of the incompatibility with yours and your Dh's bloodtypes but am so pleased to hear you have had children. We have our next appointment at the recurrent miscarriage clinic tomorrow when we will get test results back but they say the genetic ones will take a bit longer. They say because I'm rhesus positive that rhesus disease is not a factor but otherwise have not mentioned mine and Dh's blood types being different. I will have to ask tomorrow (I'm making a list of things I want to ask about) They told us over 90% of women they see they don't find an answer but we'll just have to see what tomorrow brings I suppose. Again I am encouraged to hear you and your Dh have had children, but I am so very sorry for your losses. I wish you the best xxx
