I am so sorry fo your loss. I have just suffered my 2nd mc. My doctor told me after the first one to wait 2 cycles. You need to time to heal especially if you had a D&C.

What is a D&C??

A D&C is a surgical procedure that lasts about 10 miniutes. The doctor removes the tissue from your uterus in order to prevent infection that can occur from miscarrying naturally. I know that was not that the most detailed answer but I can't emotionally go into detail at this time. I would suggest you can google it. Sorry that I was not of more help. I had 2 D&C's. I was knocked out for both. The pros of it is that it does minimizes bleeding, prevents infection, and actually makes you more fertile b/c it cleans you out. Good luck to you

Thanks Karen you did help out. Does everyone have them after a miscarriage? Ive never had a miscarriage and my first preg was easy and no problems at all. This is why Im just lost on this. After the ultrasound I will know if I need a D&C right?? Im scared actually, my doctor doesnt explain anything to me esp when I have questions and Im not sure who to turn to with my questions. This is why I came on here. But Thanks Karen!!!

I understand how you feel. When I had to have my first D&C I did not know what to expect. I had ultrasounds to confirm when my baby's hb stopped. Then my doctor dilated me whereby he inserts medication into my cervix. I experienced some cramping during this. The following day I had the D&C. Not everyone needs a D&C. It depends on how far along you are in your pregnancy. Also with my recent mc I started to naturally miscarry. My doctor examined me and I had an ultrasound. After which he found my uterus to be too enlarged and it required a D&C. You will have an ultrasound to confirm that you expelled all the tissue within your uterus. If you have not then you may need one. Your doctor should be explaining this. Discuss your concerns with him and ask as many questions as you like. It is your right as a patient. Try not to worry.
