Missed Miscarriage Cervix Is Nature Taking Its Course

Its been 2 weeks since an ultrasound discovered no heartbeat (I went back a week later to confirm, and the fetal pole measured smaller, so this is a definite m/c, between 5 and 6 weeks). I still haven't had any bleeding or cramping. My doctor recommended against waiting more than 5 weeks to do anything (d&c or induce) due to an increased risk of complications to me after that point. I've scheduled a d&c for 2 weeks from now but am hoping to avoid it. I started investigating my cervix several days ago -- for a couple days it was in the super high, super soft stage, with "snotty" stretchy "pregnancy" mucus. Then a couple days ago it became lower, firmer, more creamy mucus (barely any of the snotty stuff). I am hoping that this means my body is getting with the program and preparing to complete the m/c. Does anyone have any relevant experience w. the cervical changes?
