Hi, all! Sorry about lack of abbrev - not familiar with them yet. Anyway, I am 35 years old. Always though I didn't want kids. My husband (DH?) had a vasectomy when I was POSITIVE I didn't want kids. Sure enough a year ago the baby urge kicked in. He had a vasectomy reversal in April. We were lucky enough to get preg on the first try, but had a m/c at 8 weeks (heartbeat but only in the 80's). I got AF on 8/27, but didn't O until CD20, whereas I prev O on CD14. AF is due again on Monday, and of course I am hoping for a BFP, but is CD20 too late?

Hi Paige! It doesn't matter how late you ovulate, you can still get pregnant if you have s_x on or shortly before ovulation. The time from cycle day 1 (first day of regular flow of your period) to ovulation can vary widely from woman to woman, but the time from ovulation to the end of the cycle doesn't vary much for anyone. It is about 2 weeks give or take a couple of days. If your luteal phase (2nd half of cycle or post ovulation) is less than 11 or 12 days that is usually a problem with getting pregnant or sustaining a pregnancy and I haven't heard of too many people with long luteal phases. normal is about 14 -16 days. So you want to count 2 weeks from the day you ovulated (day 20) to get when your period is due this time since you ovulated late your cycle will be longer.

Thanks, stefkay. I've read too much over the last month about short LP's, so when I O'd on CD20 I got nervous. I guess I just have to chill out and a__sume that after a D&C it takes a while to regulate. Of course, I will still be taking a HPT on Monday - waste of money but can't help myself!

Hey, I wouldn't worry...if you ovulate late it doesn't mean you will have a short luteal phase at all! You'll just have a longer cycle. What's good is that you know WHEN you ovulate so now you can see if you do have a short luteal phase (if you get AF in less than 2 weeks from ov)...most women don't have a clue when they ovulate or anything that goes on in their bodies each month! Knowledge is power :-)

you did well with the abbreviations - i am sorry for your loss - i just had my 2nd m/c 3 weeks ago and am still shocked. you still have a chance to get PG with O on CD20 - i hope to hear great results from you! good luck - when are you testing???

I am sorry for your losses. I can't imagine the disappointment with a 2nd m/c. I already did one HPT...pathetic, I know...BFN. I will wait til the middle of next week to try again. It's so hard to wait!
