Period 3 Weeks After M C

Has anyone had thier period start 3 weeks after a m/c. I have heard that it's 4-6 weeks and I just started this morning. I had a m/c on 3/4/05. I'm worried... Is this my period early or what?!

mine took almost 6 weeks, but I think it depends on how far along you were and how fast your body gets it's levels down. I was 8 weeks along, and my levels were still up at 5 weeks. Is this a regular period, or just spotting- I had spotting around 3 weeks.

A little over 1 week after the m/c my lvls were at 25. Over a 3 day period my levels went from 141 to 25 so... It started out this morning like a period but through the day has been spotting. Heavy spotting but spotting (panty liner). If it is af I'm suppose to start clomid again on Monday if it isn't... I suppose I'll have to wait and see if "things pick up" tomorrow.

If it's only a panty liner, I wouldn't consider it a period, but I'm not a dr. Can you call yours and ask? Then again, when I asked about my spotting they said it could be a period. Hmph! You are sooo lucky that your levels went down so quickly!

How long did it take for yours to go down??

stacey - March 25

5 weeks after the m/c my level was 7, so it basically took about 5 1/2 weeks to go down. I was so jealous reading everyone's strands that said they were down after 2 weeks. I wasn't even that far along!

Well don't be too jealous... I'm so frustrated with my dr right now... I started spotting (it's not af) yesterday and I REALLY think it's just "left overs" from the m/c. The nurse called me back and said that my OB wants me to take the provera I have 1 month from now. I'm like... Well it takes 10 days for that to work so that would put my next period at April 5th!$#@ That's 2 months & I'm not waiting that long. She went on to tell me that they know there is an increase in m/c risk if you don't have a period before you get pg next after a m/c. Funny... she said NO to that question when I asked her at my visit. Now it's a yes?! Damnit.

I spotted 3 weeks after my m/c as well. They told me to wait one cycle- we ended up doing it, but not on purpose. We tried, but nothing :( If my cycle stays at the 40 days it was at last month (1st cycle after m/c), then you will still have af before me!

I think my husbang threw away the prescription I had for the provera. Damn. I have to call it in now. I was seriously going to take it next week but now I'm screwed. Good luck to you. At this rate I won't start AF until Aril 20th :(

what exactly is provera and what's it for- sorry, felt like I should have known it! If you call it in, they can't send it right to a drug store so you can get it that day?

Provera brings on AF for women who don't get it on thier own. I will go as high as 4 months without AF. Therefor I'm not ovulating. My dr wants me to wait and take it on April 11th. I'm so impatient. I don't want to wait. It takes 10-12 days for the provera to even start af. That means I won't get it until 4-20 or 4-22. I had my m/c on 3-5. I'm going to call monday and tell them to call it in. Hopefully they will do it and not make me wait. I plan to start taking it on the 4th.

Heather, i would wait as suggested by the doctor, it seems hard but give your body a chance to get back to some sort of normality before loading it with hormones.... your cycles might become "normal" on their own after the miscarriage, as a lot of women report their cycles are different afterwards, yours may be different in a good way. Have you tried using the technique where you can get your cycles regular by sleeping in a dark room for most of the month (ie you cannot see your hand if you hold it in front of you) and then using a low wattage lamp for a few days coinciding with the full moon... this is how the female population used to cycle before the advent of the electric light... 28 days, ovulate on the full moon, menstruate on the dark... i think the guys used to go hunting before the dark moon (imagine the pmt!). Try a google search with something like: lunar cycles fertility moon or whatever. Light really does effect your body, for instance just turning lights low in the evening starts the production on melatonin (for sleeping)... it is worth thinking about anyway... :-) and i do think there is some truth to it, i have had O day on the full moon for the last three months since i have tracked my cycles... they seem to lengthen or shorten to fit, even with my recent "temporary" pregnancy/late period (pos test but didn't stick) O days still happened on full moon (used opk so it is not imagination) xx

and a quick ps: it probably is your period... if it is three weeks since your miscarriage finished as compared to when it started... maybe you are so used to long cycles it is a bit hard to believe? Perhaps time to go to the drug store and stock up on some opk's and start testing for that surge in ten days. :-)
