ELSIE - November 3

I HAD 2 CHEMICAL PREGNANCIES. I BECAME PREGNANT IN AUGUST AND I MISCARRIED IN MY 5TH WEEK, AND I BECAME PREGNANT 2 WEEKS LATER AND MISCARRIED AT 5 AND A HALF WEEKS. WE WERE ADVISED TO WAIT FOR ONE MONTH AND THEN TRY AGAIN. I AM GOING TO TTC AGAIN THIS WEEKEND. I AM SO SCARED. IS IT POSSIBLE FOR ME TO GO ON TO A HEALTHY PREGNANCY AFTER SUCH A THING, OR DOES IT MEAN THAT I HAVE COMPLICATIONS????? JUST BY THE WAY, THE DOCTOR WASNT 100% SURE I WAS PREGNANT EVEN THE SECOND TIME. IT MUST OF BEEN A SHIFT IN HORMONES OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, THOUGH I WAS FEELING SICK ALL THE TIME, AND MY b ___stS WERE AWFULLY SORE. I ALSO HAD A VERY VERY LIGHT POSITIVE URINE TEST. MY HCG WAS 8. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME AND TELL ME IF I CAN GO ON TO HAVE A NORMAL PREGNANCY. THANKS!!!!

Elsie - don't give up hope, you have a very good chance of going on to have a perfectly healthy pregnancy. (though I have to say the number of recurrent miscarriages on this board seem to put paid to the statistic that only 1-2% of women will have more than one) If it keeps happening, you can have tests run that will determine whether there is a recurrent chromosmal abnormality that is preventing your pregnancies from continuing. There are other factors they can test as well. Hang in there - the only bright side is you are miscarrying early - because it's only going to feel worse in every way the longer a doomed pregnancy goes...good luck.

Hi Elsie, since you had 2 miscarriages, did they say they would do more testing to find out if it is something chronic? I wish you all the luck in the world! I never knew that maintaining a pregnancy was so hard! It should be a law that our jobs give a pregnant woman paid time off in the very critical first trimester to take care of ourselves! My whole life, having a healthy pregnancy and baby seemed so effortless until my time came and I had a miscarriage at 8.5 weeks. It really never occurred to me that so many factors have to be exactly right for it to be carried to term. Again, good luck to you and your family!
