Pregnancy After Loss And C Section Cerclage

I lost twin boys at 24 weeks. I had to have an emergency c-section. The doctors aren't sure if it was due to incompetent cervex or just pre term labor. We just found out we are expecting again!! (just one this time!) We are talking about doing a cerclage...any info on this? My doctor is wanting to do it at 16 weeks...is that late?

Congratulations on your new pregnancy! I just wanted to pop you a quick line to say that my mum developed an incompetant cervix after she had had a couple of babies, and after having a couple of m/c's (which they worked out were entirely due to an incompetant cervix which was causing a premature labour situation) they popped in a cerclage; and it worked brilliantly for her last couple of babies! I'm sorry I can't help with the timing (ie. 16 weeks) however it does seem late-ish. Can you get a second opinion? The are doctors who specialise in higher-risk pregnancies - mmight be worth speaking with them if your doc is not a high risk specialist. Good luck with it all anyway!

Thanks for your response...It is good to know that it works out. We are with a high risk dr that was there when the boys were born. (So she knows the history) We were just nervous, because we were told about the risks of surgery but I guess I know the alternatives and I don't want to go there again!! Thanks again!
