Hi, im writing on behalf of my best friend, she had a m/c at 11 wks, but the baby actually died at 7 wks, she has had 2 cycles since then ( as they are trying to concieve again) but her cycles are only going for 22 days, from what i believe you cant conceive if your cycles are that short?? ( i couldnt help her as we hav had no trouble conceiving) so i was hoping for some advice that i can give her?? Basically i want to know is it common to have short cycles after m/c and will the get longer??? thanks for all your help in advance

hi there - i'm no expert but i just happened to be reading about ovulation today and it was specifically explained that if someone has a 21 day cycle they might ovulate so soon after a/f that if they bd during their period they might become pregnant. so, according to them (http://www.americanpregnancy.org) a short cycle like that is not an obstacle. as for whether it's common to have shorter cycles after m/c - I've not heard that, but have heard that everyone is different and that the hormones do take a while to settle down and establish a new (or return to an old) pattern. hope this helps, and sorry for your friend's loss.

thank you for your answer!! i will do some research on this, i just want to help her out so much, i feel bad, she was pregnant and about a week after she lost it i found out i was pregnant, its kinda hard wanting to share the excitement of it all but not as i dont want to rub her face in it, so ive been foccusing on helping her through this tricky situation.

She should be fine..and btw I conceived 2 cycles post missed miscarriage. On top of that I had remain fetal tissue and my periods wer 21days long and 16 days...Tell her to do basal monitoring and OPK's she'll pinpoint ovulation and may conceive sooner than she know's it!!

thanks guys, just done some research and it say to have s_x during periods and strait after as that is when she is likely to ovulate, i just told her the news, she really didnt like the sound of doing it while on her periods (not that i blame her) she saw it as her week off lol
