Spotting And U S Only Shows Sac

Hi, according the my LMP I should be 9 weeks pregnant. I had a va___al u/s which showed only a sac which would correspond with a 5 week pregnancy. I have been having red & pink spotting (no tissue) for a week now. If still spotting tonight I will go to ER. Has anyone else experienced this? I am so worried and have no one to talk to about it.

yes.... either your dates are out (ie you got pregnant later than you thought, which does happen), or your pregnancy stopped progressing at around 5 weeks and you have a threatened miscarriage... it is very common and pretty depressing.... hope all goes ok with you, get it checked out again if you are worried.

ps... you need to ask for your hcg levels to be checked by blood test... and then in a couple more days to see if they are rising before you do anything else.

Hi Shannon - I'm not sure what is happening with you, but please know that I wish you the absolute best outcome. I started spotting at 9 weeks, about an hour before my first OB appt. Had a v____al scan which also showed just an empty sac. Continued spotting for 10 days and finally the heavy bleeding/cramping/contraction type pain started and I pa__sed everything through a natural miscarriage. During the 10 days of spotting, I had numerous tests (hcg blood tests, two u/s, etc.), and was diagnosed with a blighted ovum. Never heard the term before and I've grown to HATE it. Anyway, mulgajill (luv to ya, Girl!!) is right - your dates could be off and you got pregnant later. This was not the case with me as I know exactly when I conceived. Unfortunately the blighted ovum is fairly common (5 other patients of my OB had it within the 2 days I was seen) but still heartbreaking and extremely depressing. Please take care of yourself and get checked again ASAP. I was hesitant to have a D&C since they tried to shove it down my throat immediately, and chose to let it happen naturally as I'm a firm believer in the body healing itself. For some reason this was also the only way I could be at peace (this was my third consecutive loss). Take care of yourself and keep us informed. I'm thinking of you and sending big hugs your way!

I just had an u/s on Wed. and I was 7weeks, they saw a gestational sac, but no yolk sac. My dr. called today to confirm that my baby is not alive and I will miscarry in a week or so. I had no bleeding or cramping. I was very worried after the u/s too. I hope things go better for you. I will be praying for you!
