Hi, I had a D&C on the 01/16 and still have not had af. Is this normal? I am very worried so would appreciate any advise. My pregnancy was a twin pregnancy and i was 14 weeks - don't know if this makes a difference?

have you taken a hpt recently? it is possible to become pg again before getting af.

Raewyn - March 10

Hi, Yes have had a hpt and it was negative - had bloods done and HCG was below 2 so definitely not pregnant (sadly)

Hi, my dr. told me anything up to 12wks is normal. If it's been over 3 months, then I would have to come in to get something that would help get it started. Don't worry. When did you get a the -hpt and bloods taken. I've heard that your period usually comes about 2wks after your levels reach 0.

Thanks AshleyB, that is rea__suring. Actually did an OPK test two days ago and it came up positive so hopefully it was accurate and in two weeks time who knows?? fingers crossed. One way or another even if do get af in two weeks i will know what is going on with my body.

you need to take a hpt to verify that you are not preg. very occa__sionally you can get a post opk from pg hormones. see peeonastick.com/opkhpt.html

deltabwa- she just posted before yours saying that she had her blood taken and her HCG was under 2. Like, Ashley... how long ago was that lab taken Raewyn?? My HCG was at 5 exactly 5 weeks after my D&C... So, my first AF would be exactly 7 weeks after D&C (but, I conceived before I got that first AF from ovulating 5 weeks after D&C)... Yet, I was 12 weeks when I had my D&C and my HCG the day of the surgery was at 9500. So, if my first AF would have been 7 weeks after D&C, and your JUST now on 8 weeks after D&C and you were further along, I would say you should be getting AF at any time now. If not, then possibly a BFP if it was some time ago they took your blood. So, once again... what date did they draw your quants??

Raewyn - March 12

Hi, I had my bloods done last week - when I posted my question just two days prior. I am hoping that the OPK was correct and that I ovulated and in two weeks time no AF and a postive HPT - but I am sure the anxiety will get to me! Thanks Daniella for your answer - it is good to hear from someone else with a similar situation and know that everything worked out for them. Also, how are you now? How far along are you - or have you had your baby?

Daniella - March 12

Raewyn- yea.. if your HCG was "just" under 2 a week ago and then your OPK's showed positive slightly after that.. I would definitley a__sume that ovulation did just occur. Did you bd around the time your quants were taken?? Well, I ovulted 5 days after my HCG was down to 5. So, you would be right about in the same ball park. 13 days after ovulation I had a positive HPT. went to the dr. that same day and it was a new pregnancy with my HCG at 134. Then 2 days after that my HCG was at 370. I was put on progesterone supplements right away to help keep the lining of the uterus nice and thick since I did just have a D&C. Plus, my progesterone levels were low on my last pregnancy/loss. So, if you do get a + HPT here in about a week or so... go get your levels checked ASAP. :) Good luck!! Oh, and I happy to report I will be 32 weeks tomorrow. Also, we only had s_x ONE night due to my our jobs. So, I am not guessing about when ovulation and conception occured. It 100% did only days after my HCG was down. Good luck!!!

Daniella - March 12

wow, sorry about the typos!!

Raewyn - March 12

Hi Daniella, We did bd around the time - so heres hoping!! BUT when I did the opk test I actually took it as perhaps a sign that I was pregnant because (as I am sure you know) HCG can give a false positive. At this stage I will still waiting for the lab results. So we did no bd until 2 days later - so may have just missed or could be lucky. Will just have to wait and see. (hope all this makes sense) Congrats on your pregnancy, you must be getting excited/ nervous now?

Daniella - March 13

Raewyn- Well, I use the ovulation scope for my OPK... and it doesn't give a false positive when you are pregnant. In fact, if I were to spit on the scope right now, it would be negative. It showed I positive 2 days before my hubby came back. So, I thought we just missed it. Yet, we must have just caught the egg right at the last stage/day. Probably why we are having a boy. lol... Anyhow, yea.. I thought I just missed it, but we did catch it in time. Yet, the scope gives you more warning than the urine test strips. It always seems that when I get a positive on the urine test strips, ovulation had already happened. The scope shows up to 3 days before. As you know sperm can live up to a week. So, its better to know your going to ovulate a few days before.. then finding out when you are. HOPEFULLY you did catch it in time. What dates did you get your positive OPK?? Just wondering when the soonest you can expect AF or a + HPT. :)

Raewyn - March 13

Hi Daniella, OPK (the urine strip) on the 9th and bd on the 11th. Excuse my ignorance but what is a scope and what is a strip? I have only ever seen the urine sticks so don't know what the scope is. fingers crossed and will keep you posted!!

Daniella - March 14

Raewyn- where you located?? Ok, the test strips is the same as the stick. Just depends on what brand you buy... its pretty much just peeing on the piece of paper.. just like a pregnancy test.. The ovulation scope is great because its one price.. like $20 US. and you can use it over and over again as many times as you want. Its the size of a lipstick case and you just spit on the scope and wait until it dries. Then you hit the b___ton to light of the slide and look at your saliva. If you see ferns (like a huge snowflake) then ovulation is about to take place. If you see some ferns and some dots then your in transition. If you see only dots (maybe with some real little ferns) then your not about to ovulate. Its hard to explain unless you have it and have done it. Once you do, it would totally understand what I was just saying> LOL.. Do a google search on ovulation scopes. There are different kinds out there. The best is a gla__s scope for the the plastic can scratch. The website to the one I used is.... www.ovulationscope.com

Hi Daniella, I live in little ole New Zealand. The OPK are really expensive over here - we pay 80 dollars for a pack of six. I have not seen the scope before but will see if I can find one - sounds better than the urine strips which I was using. Hopefully they are accurate though!! I used clearblue easy OPK strips - I am going to do an HPT later (unless the anxiety takes over) so I am not disappointed. I will probably test in two weeks from today - wish me luck. It would be nice to be pregnant without getting AF (horrible physical reminder that am no longer pregnant). You are expecting a wee boy - that is lovely - I hope we get a wee boy too! Have you got any names yet?

Daniella - March 14

Raewyn- if I were you, I would order all of your OPK stuff from online. You can get it so much cheaper. The scope doesn't always work for everyone yet the % of accuracy is pretty high. Just check it out online. Yea, going straight into pregnancy without AF has its ups and downs... of course the ups is that your not "non-pregnant" very long... the downs are you have constant worry about conceiving so soon and the possiblity of another loss right back to back. Another is after the baby is born would be like a year without an AF so that first one is going to be horrible. lol... Also, it feels like your pregnant forever. If I never lost my last one, I would have already given birth. To the people that don't know I lost it, ask "wow, your still pregnant" or "I thought you would have had the baby already" so... I get stuff like that a lot and I hate having to explain that I ended up losing that one and I got pregnant 5 weeks after, etc., etc. I just say... yea, this is a 12 month pregnancy. lol. ALSO... In stead of a lot of people happy for me, I actually got the whole, "wow, that was fast" or "didn't you have to wait" or "gosh, are you sure its OK to be pregnant again so soon" ALL that c___p!! Hardly anyone (except the lovely ladies on this forum) ever said, "Oh wow, that is awesome.. congrats!!" etc. for the first thing. I understand their worries, but don't make me feel like c___p for getting pregnant so soon. This will still be our first baby and it doesn't feel like it anymore. Like it was all wasted on the last pregnancy. If that makes any sense. My whole thoughts are.... when your ready it will happen. I lost 3 pregnancies and this will be our first one to make it all the way... and this is the one that I conceived so soon after my a loss. So, it was meant!! Regardless of the timing. :)
