Strange Situation Anyone Else

I have a strange situation, not sure if anyone has every experienced anything similar. January was the first month we TTC and come the end of the month I got what I thought was my period, normal time, however, it just didn't stop and after two weeks of bleeding I went to the Dr. He took a pregnancy test and showed HCG of 20, bleeding kept going, next week HCG was 15, then a few days later 19, and now 40. Still bleeding slightly. Had a sonogram last week which showed no tissue, but possibly a polyp. But this is strange since my body is producing HCG...so anyway, the Dr. thinks that what looks like a polyp is possibly tissue which is producing HCG and I have a D&C scheduled for next week. He admits that whats going on is "unusual" but doesn't seem alarmed. Sorry for the long story, but has anyone heard of a similar situation?

no, but did he check for an ectopic pregnancy? I heard that can cause weird fluctuations in hcg.

hard one... i should think if it was me i may wonder if it is maybe a baby (the polyp).... i would get a second opinion... and if it is ectopic prg a d&c wont fix it... needs different treatment... definately a second opinion job....

Thanks, unfortunately, I'd be 6 weeks by now and with an HCG of 40, and no pregnancy symptoms it can't be good. But a 2nd opinion is a good option. I've had an ultrasound so I hope that they would have seen an ectopic pregnancy if it was there...I appreciate the feedback. When the mystery is cleared up I will report back!

No, but I wouldn't jump into any surgical procedure unless I had a second opinion.
