Welcome ladies, old and new friends. See you in the chat!

Tory1980 - May 20

Hello ladies. I gave up with the trying to load the last thread! Stef, I would say more on the motto as beig 'Plain stubborn and pig-headed' or is that just me? Krisitn, be careful or baby number four might be coming your way! Hubby might think he can get his leg over if you are putting on make-up. The BIG question is - did you manage to brush the hair after it was washed? If you have managed that you are a better woman than me! LOL! Kathy, I would say things are definitely hotting up for you but yes it can take a while for anythnig to actually happen - as you found out with no change after al those contractions. As for 8cms with Lori - if I can get to 6cms with Matthew and my waters gone anything is possible! LOL! I wish all of you speedy pain free labours although since you are all thinking epidural I hope for it work correctly! No news on Lori yet?

Tory1980 - May 20

And this thread keeps dropping letters. Stupid moving adverts! Why is 'hair' highlighted?

Tory1980 - May 20

Okay and now it has just not highlighted 'hair' anymore but highlighted 'make-up'! WTH?

Hello Lovelies. I sure have missed alot in the past couple days! Leslie--That is SO horrible what happened to your friend. I couldn't imagine being violated like that. I sure hope they find the sc_mbag who did this to her, it might not make it any easier on your friend now, but later, knowing there was some legal justice might help the wounds to heal. KATHY--I keep thinking I am going to log in to hear news of little Gavin. I don't blame you for not wanting to have your mom here already waiting on the delivery..watching a pot of water and it won't boil..I can't wait for you to bring your little man into the world! FRANCES--P__s on that dang glucose test! I sure hope it isn't gestational diabetes..got all my appendages crossed for you and Gus (can't grasp onto Agustus LOL). ALLIE--I sure hope you are having the big O and soon we could be hearing the big BFP from you too! Welcome to the new ladies, we all understand where you are coming from on losing your precious angels, and we will be here for you on your journey to your future little ones. So for me: I had a gut feeling ( a bad one) about the doc office I was going to go to June 16th. I faxed my records over and they never called me to confirm their receipt of them, so yesterday I called them and the rude receptionist told me she sits right by the fax and never got them. She said maybe 'they' didn't fax them yet (my old doc). And I was like, I personallly faxed them. After many more exchanges I hung up and found another group of all female Ob-Gyns that when I called them, explained my m/c history and grief with the other doctor's office, they set me up to come in tomorrow to fill out paperwork and go over my med record with them to get an u/s earlier than June 16th. I was like, THANK GOD, I just knew that the first place didn'y have my best interest or my baby's at heart. I think they may do some bloodwork tomorrow, and I hope we will do a scan maybe in another 2 weeks (by then I will be 7w 5 d) AND I also took advantage of a program my health insurance offers for pg where they give you a 'case manager' who coordinates proper care through me and the doctor. They already called me yesterday and went through my history and gave me an 800 number for a 24/7 RN..boy will they ever regret that someday LOL...So I feel more at peace with this new doc, I will report tomorrow if I get a warm fuzzy feeling from them and if they do any tests. My poor DH was begging for 'attention' last night, and I told him NONE of that until after 12 wks just to be safe...I offered him other means, and he seemed happy. I always have a decline in s_x drive when pg..even the first pg when I wasn't on pelvic rest by the doc..I just wasn't in the mood. It is really weird. No puking yet, just nausea here and there, esp after I eat. I hope everyone is doing well. TTFN +++Cyndi+++

Tory1980 - May 20

Cyndi, my sister was the same. S_x was a foreign concept for her. As for me it has the opposite effect. Hubby begs me to leave him alone - although he did put me on s_x ban with Imogen. Ha! That backfired. If I'm wasn't getting any action neither was he! I have warm and fuzzies for the doctors you are seeing tomorrow just for the description you have given. As for the balltle-axe at the fax machine - you got the receipt of sending, right? You should have told her to plug the d__n machine in and maybe she would have received everything that was needed. Idiot power-tripping woman! Anyway, good on the new doctors and wow on the pregnancy behaving itself so far! I pity the doctor though who is at the end of that phone! LOL!

LORI: I'm DYING to hear where you are with everything. Post soon! KATHY: I know! So funny we're all in the same boat. I'm loving that you and LORI are right there. I feel like you can answer all my dumb questions! I'm not feeling particularly positive about finding any progress at my appt tomorrow. When do you see the Doc again? TORY: This may be naive but no epidural for me. Dum dum duuuuuummmmmmm! If anything, I'm going with Stadol. Did you go with any pain management? So I gave myself a personal treat day and got a pedicure and a haircut but the haircut sucks big time. I was pretty specific and I dropped a bit of coin only to get something I kinda hate. Urrgggh.

Tory1980 - May 20

Maggie what is Stadol (sp?)? Other than a spinal with Matthew when they had to take me to theatre after a hour of pushing I have only ever used Gas&Air (Entonox). With Joshua I had no pain relief at all. As for the hair cut - I am gonig for one on Friday and I am seriously debating getting my hair all cut off. It hasn't been cut since last November so a few inches are coming off anyway but we will wait and see. With a new baby coming your hair will be back more than down so that is a bonus if it is a cut you hate! You should complain and get it 'fixed' up. 3 babies - all born on the same day???? Hmmmm.

MPear - May 20

TORY: Stadol is a narcotic (admin through the IV) and does cross the placenta but they won't give it to me past 7cm. Mostly I think it allows you to sleep between contractions by taking the edge off. I'm keeping it as a standby. My only choices were that or the epidural. But who knows what I'll resort to in the moment! I may call to get it fixed. P__ses me off to be so specific and pay all that money to have something c___p. Imogene is gorgeous by the way!!

Hello Ladies....Well, the verdict is in....It's a BOY !!!! Score one for the blue team....lol....I took Olivia with me, and she was so excited. We went right from the doc's office to dh's office to tell him. She had to be the one to break the news to him...It was so cute. We went shopping afterward and she bought a little toy frog for her baby brother. I have a question....Since dh told his mom this morning, she called me and is determined to have a baby shower for me. I don't feel comfortable with it because I had one with Olivia already. I told her how I felt, and all she said was...What will your theme be for the nursery so I can order the cake? I have always thought that a shower was for new moms only. She seems to think because this baby is a boy that I can have another shower. Have any of you ladies had more than one shower? Anyhow, everything looks good with the baby considering the issue of only 2 umbilical cord vessels instead of 3. Heart rate was 130. ok, I have to get going....Need to finish dinner....I will be back later....

Leslie Lynn - May 20

I almost forgot....I added 2 u/s pics on piczo...."boy parts" and all.....lol

Tory1980 - May 20

Leslie, ah ha! Said boy! Whoo hoo! Good news on all being well with baby. As for the shower - do it for me!!! I have never had one! Maggie, sounds like pethedine to me. My sister had that and she couldn;t remember her name, what she was supposed to be doing and she was sick as a dog as was two of my friends. Some women just can't tolerate it. It is meant to take the edge off but it made her labour a nightmare. They will also usually give you an anti-sickness remedy to help but it doen't always work. We don;t have it through IV though - it is IM. Same as diamorphine. Both can cause breathing problems with the newborn which is why they say no to it once you are around 7cms BUT they can give an antidote to help baby breathe afterwards if they give it later in the labour than they realised or if you dilate faster than expected. Something to watch I suppose. Use it as your back up. Why are they only offering you those two methods of pain relief - they are the more extreme cases. There is also water - showers, bath etc, walking and staying upright will help with pain too so push for it if you want to move around. Hospital policy is what is convienent for them usually. Not long now though! Got a Birth Plan sorted yet?

Tory1980 - May 20

I looked up Stadol. Apparently it isn;t the same thing and the effects on breathing can't be reversed. it also transfers through mothers milk and has a half life od approx 50 hours meaning the baby will continue to be incredibly sleepy after birth usually and will have great difficulty in feeding - especially b___stfeeding. This Midwifery extract actually states Morphine is better choice - I have long held the controversial and minority opinion that if a woman in labor truly needs a narcotic medication (and that is another can of worms I won't address just now) that morphine is safer and more effective than demerol, both for her and her baby. All narcotics carry risks, the most widely disseminated one being that of fetal respiratory depression. Morphine, being a pure agonist narcotic, is readily and completely reversed by Narcan, something that doesn't seem to be true of Nubain and Stadol. It also doesn't have the toxic metabolite (normeperidine) that Brazelton's studies in the 1960s showed hung around in the newborn for a week after mom's intrapartum exposure. It also works very well. Interesting read. Right off to ebd for me. It is midnight here! Night ladies!

ChattyKathy - May 20

CYNDI, good for you, getting the care you deserve! I can't wait to see those ultrasound pics! LESLIE, congrats! I was thinking boy for you, too! I say go for the babyshower. It could be fun since you'll be decorating BLUE instead of pink! MAGGIE, I go back to the doctor tomorrow! (wow, I was SO thinking it was still monday for some reason!) I always cross my fingers for an extra cm or so, but I'm really not expecting anything. My hope is that since i'm still having BH that some change will be present. The good news is that I'm done cleaning! I was more concerned because BF's sister is coming tomorrow and she's the type of girl that likes to be nosy and make comments about everything. I'd be furious if she made some comment about bringing a baby home in the condition our space was in, but now I can relax a bit!

oncemore - May 20

Well... I am back from the hospital FINALLY! UGH! I went in for my NST at 11am and I have ALOT of fluid (27cm) and bp is high and I have protien in my urine... sent to L&D to be monitored. OH... and I was contracting every 3 to 5 min while doing the NST. In L&D, they montiored me for like 5 1/2 hours and I was contracting every 3 min. Did blood work and got checked over... cervix is STILL only 1cm and I had to be watched until my bp went back down (it was 149/94) then after being monitored and in bed all d__n day... it went to 118/84... but I am usually 110/60... but since it was in normal range and my lab work came back normal, and Brevin is doing good... they sent me home to "take it easy" and come back next week... yeah. But I was a bit bummed out about my cervix... but WTH??? How the heck is Brevin's head gonna put pressure on my darn cervix if he is floating in an olympic size pool in there? LOL! I dunno... I hope to convince my dr. next week to go ahead and induce me if I still have more issues. And the fluid level is on the very high side... so I am surprised they werent more concerned about that... they were more concerned about my bp and urine and such...ugh! Anyways... that's my story for today! I gotta get those bathrooms cleaned! LOL! LESLIE- woohoo!!!! A boy!!!! I think that is what I said as well... I am remembering now, lol! YES!!! It is perfectly fine to have another baby shower when having the opposite gender!!!! I had one for my boy and one for my girl. And now... I dont get anymore...sob sob! Take advantage of it girlfriend!!! It's your FIRST again!!!! Yay for a boy!!! Glad all is looking good still and congrats!!! MAGGIE and KATHY--- this is FUN!!! The three of us may just have our babies on the same day or very close to that!!! You two need to let me know how your appts go tomorrow!!!! I will be upset if you guys have dialated more! LOL! J/K!!! Love ya!

TORY: Thanks for the help. I've long done my homework about Stadol and my drug choices (which is what we were discussing, no? Not normal laboring options i.e.; walking, showers, ma__sage, etc) as well as dh's family are all in medicine -- so I am well advised. I personally know many women that have been through it and have had great and easy experiences and I refuse to go into this worried or scared of someone else's experience or advice. Birth plans are very personal and I've thought long and hard about what is right for me, Alex and my son. I'm plan to stay positive and relaxed. Thanks for your posts.

MPear - May 20

LORI: Whoa -- all day in L&D!! You must be exhausted!! You and KATHY are totally going to pop before me. KATHY: I bet the clean house is setting the mind at ease -- now relax that cervix!!!
