Threatened Abortion

I had some very light spotting at 8.5 wks & the ultrasound showed a stong heartbeat with no reason for the bleeding. Then no problems until yesterday when I bled a lot. The emergency room dr said my cervix was still closed and ultrasound showed the baby at the correct size (12 wks) with a good heartbeat. The bleeding has lightened a lot but I am still nervous. Anybody else have a similar experience with a good outcome? Thanks!

Hi jh: my outcome was not so positive as yours and I lost my baby - but it sounds to me like you ought to just hang in there because your baby is doing just fine! Some women do bleed during their pregnancies, and while it is important to keep your doctor informed and to "double check" when that happens, it can also be totally normal and not necessarily an indicator that anything is wrong. I think as long as you keep seeing that good heartbeat, you and baby will be just fine. Hang in there, I know how scary it is. Take good care dear. xxoo

Thanks Kim! I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I wish you the best if you decide to try again.

Thanks jh! I will keep thinking good thoughts for you and I'm sure everything will be just fine. The worries of a pregnant lady are never ceasing I know! This is actually my third cycle of trying since my miscarraige, but I'm feeling positive still so far. Keeping my fingers crossed that it's as easy to get pregnant the second time as it was the first. Have a good day!

Hi JH - I had a m/c back in March and I am now pregnant again (almost 20 weeks). I started bleeding at 6 1/2 weeks (similar to my m/c) and was so sure that this pregnancy was over as well. However, I went to the doctor and they couldn't find any cause for bleeding and the baby was fine. I know a lot of other women that have similar stories - bleeding is very common in normal pregnancies. I hope all is well -- sending you lots of hugs and prayers.
