TTC After Miscarriage

How long should a person wait to TTC after a miscarriage? (I'm not talking emotionally I mean physically.) Your first period after or longer?

Ann - July 17

I've had 2 docs tell me to wait until after 1st AF after m/c. But a nurse from one of the docs also told me TTC 3 wks after m/c is ok. Most of the literature says wait for one AF.

I was told by the 1st gyno I could start straight away, another gyno said to wait 3 cycles otherwise it would be a high risk pregnancy, I was told by the 3rd to wait 1 cycle. It got the better of me and I told the 3rd one what the 1st said and he told me he was happy to back him up and it would be ok to get pregnant before my af. So even the gyno's have different views on this one. Maybe the last 2 were talking from a text book as they were both young but the 1st one who said I could start right away was alot older and as I later found out he is the head of the obstetrics unit in the hospital so he obviously knows his stuff. Well after that being said we started ttc but with no luck, but after seeing the amount of clots (sorry if tmi) I lost during my 1st af I am glad I didn't fall pregnant straight away, but my fingers are crossed for this month!

Same for me, Sue. We started TTC when I ovulated after the m/c for 1 day only b/c then I got sick. I'm expecting this month to be a bust. Looking forward to next month!

My doctor told me to wait 3 months, but not to worry about birth control. She said if I got pregnant before then, we would just roll with it, but that there's a slightly higher risk of another m/c if that happened.

Same here, my doc said they would use an ultrasound to date the preg if I conceived before AF.
