Uterine Septum Surgery

Hi all, I just found out that I have a "heart shaped uterus" or a septum pretty much diving my uterus in two. I have suffered 3 miscarriages in the past year and now this was found to be the cause of my losses. I was curious if any of you have had this and if you went ahead with the surgery to fix it could you share your experience? I have yet to meet with the surgeon but I want to know if any ladies on this forum went through it and if it resulted in you having a healthy pregnancy. Thanks! Lisa

Hi Lisa. First, I am so sorry to hear of the losses that you have had to suffer in the past year. I also suffered 3 losses between 2006 and last fall. After many tests I was diagnosed with a septated uterus. I had hysteroscopic surgery (where they repaired the septum through the v____a/cervix) last November and fell pregnant in April of this year. I had a bleed at 6weeks and thought OH NO here we go again, but discovered I had twins and my uterus could only support 1 baby. I am happy to report I am now over 30 wks pg and all is good. I am SO glad that I had the surgery and that they were able to correct the cause of my m/c's. I had an excellent surgeon in Atlanta, GA who performed the surgery. I am considered high risk with this pg because of the heart shaped uterus, they say I may not carry to full term, but we will have to see. I hope that this info will help you to make your decision. Best of luck to you.+++Cyndi+++
