Heelo ladies, I've been on these boards since last August. I am 33, and this week have suffered my 3rd consecutive m/c. After the 1st m/c last August, I waited 1 cycle to ttc. I conceived right after and miscarried 7 weeks later. Doctors ran blood tests on Dh and I. Everything was normal except they told me I am a heterozygote with MTHFR A1298C. However, 2 doctors concurred that this type of MTHFR (because it is so common) was not a contributing factor with the 2 m/c's. My Dh and I waited 2 cycles to ttc and conceived again. As soon as I got the positive test, the doctor started me on baby aspirin and progesterone suppositories. I thought that would be the miracle we needed to have a child. I had the morning sickness and was gaining weight around 9 weeks. At this 10 week's scan, they could not find a heartbeat. Needless to say, we are devestated. My OB is sending us to a reproductive endocrinologist for further evaluation. I would like to know if anyone is in a similar boat and maybe hear a succcess story after 3 m/c's with MTHFR A1298C.

Hi Kristine. First of all, I am sorry that you have had the misfortune of experiencing so many losses. My situation is a little different as I am nine years older than you and I fortuante enough to be blessed with my miracle daughter twelve years ago. I have had 4 miscarriages. Two at at 9 weeks, one at 11 weeks and one at 13.5 weeks. Just like you everything seems to be going fine, I go in for my routine visit and no heart beat. I have been seeing a perinatologist who has been running all sorts of different tests. I just learned that I am homozygous for the A1298C mutation in addition to being Factor V Leiden. I have an appointment with the specialist tonight and hope to have some answers as to why I have lost 4 babies.

Thank you Dylan for sharing your story. Please let me know how you make out at the appt. I just finished filling out over 12 pages of doc_mentation for the RE appt. I have next month. It is surreal. :-(
