Sanity Check

My cycles have been running 26-28 days - Yesterday was 26 days, no AF, and I've been suspecting that I may be pregnant, so I did an Equate HPT this morning with first morning urine. I sat it on the side of the bathtub and the "background" of the window was still cloudy pink (test still in progress) so I took my shower. When I came out of the shower, there was a very visible positive line, but I could not tell what color it was. I really don't think it was an evaporation line because I did another Equate test last week - from the same box - and there was never an evaporation line, and I went back and looked at it hours later. I have a urinary tract infection starting (I'm going to the dr. this morning) and I'm wondering if this could cause a false positive since my urine will contain things that it doesn't contain normally - blood, mucus, etc. (sorry for the TMI).

Hello? Anybody?

Shawna - October 25

A UTI will not cause a false positive because they do not create hGC which is a hormone made by your baby. This hormone is what hpts look for in your urine and blood. I am playing the waiting game as well. My last real period was August 22 and I ahven't had another. Around Oct 12 I started the period bloody, mucousy dicharge and my dr thought I would be getting my period right away, but it still hasn't arrived. I stopped taking bcp in April so I know that my cycle is completely thrown off, but it is so hard not to hope. I have had 2 negative tests. I refise to be those women that spend hundreds of dollars on tests only to be disappointed. Please let me know how everything goes and I will do the same! *********BD********
