OPK Question No Line

Okay...this may be totally dumb but I'm desperate for some help. I had a D&C in Sept. and am ttc again. It hasn't worked thus far so I am trying an OPK this time. I think the D&C (well, I know) messed with my cycle so I am unsure of when I ov now. I tried my first test this morning and got nothing...nothing! I read the directions front to back and it says if your "surge line is lighter than the reference line you are not having and LH surge". So yeah, I get that...but it wasn't lighter, it just wasn't there. Does that just mean I am far enought away from ov that nothing is showing? Will it start to show soon? (I am at cycle day 12 and my periods have been about 30 days apart since D&C) Did I start testing too soon? I started when the directions suggested. Will I start to see a faint line soon, before a positive? I've never used one of these and am a little nervous. Thanks for the help!

Just so I understand, the control line came up, but test line, correct? If that is the case it just means that you tested too early. No big deal. If you were to continue to test every day twice a day you would begin to see the line darken. My advice to you would be to start having s_x every day from the time you begin to see the line darken and continue until the line fades. As long as your hubby doesn't have fertility problems, s_x every 24 hours is the way to go. I think some women make the mistake of waiting to have s_x until the line is as dark as the control line, and that will just not happen for every woman. Good luck to you! Baby Dust!!!*****

Sorry, the first line should read, "...but the test line did not, correct?."

Thanks, mjvdec01. I appreciate the advice. Do you think I should test in the evening or morning? That is my next connundrum.

You need to be testing TWICE a day, once in the early afternoon and once in the evening, but not to late that s_x is out of the question. You just want to be sure that you are NOT using first morning urine for OPK testing. FMU is only for pregnancy testing.

Dang! You know the directions ACTUALLY suggested FMU. What a crock. Thanks for the help and I hope I get it right this time around. Have a great weekend!

You too. I'm glad I could help.
