11 Hour Road Trip At 27 Weeks In A Cargo Van

We're supposed to go to New York from North Carolina in April to have our own version of Extreme Makeover: Mom's Kitchen. My husband is doing most of the work and needs to bring ALL his tools with him on the trip. He's suggested a cargo van, like a Ford E150, for the trip, which is about 10 or 11 hours in each direction. I've had a pretty good first pregnancy so far (17 weeks). But I'm thinking a cargo van will make for a very bumpy ride. Will I be comfortable? Is this a bad idea? I'm a little concerned about it -- wondering if I shouldn't be or whether there's an alternative to the van that we are overlooking.

Hi Perchy, Youir biggest concern would be blood clots and the solution to that is every couple of hours, if you got out and just even walked around the van a few times would be fine. We have driven from Florida to Ontario canada a few times and thats what I have done. Just don't sit still for 2 long. I would also be sure too get that cleared thru your dr rst though before deciding.

hi, we live in alaska and i wanna take a roadtrip in summer, I'll be around 7 months. Our roads are ok, but sometimes to curvy. I was wondering the same thing, if it's safe. I want to stay camping at leas for 4 days. I guess doc. advice will be always helpful.

My husband had a 05 GMC Savanna cargo van and we went on (shorter) road trips in it when I was PG. It's actaully a pretty smooth ride and so I would just listen to the stuff about getting out every 2 hours and of course, your doc will have the last word. Have you thought of a train (more comfy maybe, I like trains myself) for you? Then have hubby come get you at the station?
