Anyone 35 Or Over Using A Midwife Instead Of OB GYN

Hi! My name is Lisa and I am 5 months pregnant and i am 35 and will be 35 when I deliver. I was thinking about switching to a midwifery practice that several of my friends have used with great results. I guess I am worried about switching away from a doctor when I am "of advanced maternal age" and in case of any medical emergency. But I just feel like the doctors are so clinical and the midwives i met with were so warm, knowledgeable and were really positive about the birth experience. Th doctors just seem sort of cold and clinical. Anyone have any thoughts?

well my expereince was with the midwife, and i was so glad i had to switch to a doctor. the midwife i had was asking me if i was going to sign the papers to get my tubes tied. then she asked me was this a planned pregnancy, and i said no, and the b asked me was i sure if i wanted the baby. i was too through. i am 39 years old, and when i had my son in my twenties i had a midwife who was just as rude.

Hiya, I've just had my second miscarriage. both times at 10 weeks. i'm 38. the first time i went with an ob and it was just awful. she didn't give me any warning as to what was going to happen to me physically and was not supportive emotionally. the second time i went with a midwife and she was amazing!!! i could call her at anytime and she was always there for me with support, knowledge and a warm heart. if we decide to try again i will definately go with a midwife . trust your gut. sending positive vibes....
