Could be, especially if you are really thin. In most first pregnancies people dont feel the baby until around 18-20 weeks. But everyone is different. Plus i think sometimes people do feel it but just mistake it for gas. I am almost (tomorrow) 18 weeks, and hadnt really felt the baby yet. The other night I drank some cold juice then layed on my side to see if i could feel it. Finally I felt something that felt like a gas bubble moving across my lower tummy. And I didnt have gas. So Im a__suming I finally let the little one. But I normally dont really feel anything.

Hi Jen. This is my second pregnancy. I'm 17 weeks. I started to feel fetal movements last week. Very slight though. And usually at night when i'd sit up in bed. I find it helps if my hands are on my tummy. Then you can feel it from the inside and out. I guess you'd say that I'm thin, but I don't know if it matters. With my first I didn't feel the first flutter till about 18 weeks. Then nothing regular till 20 weeks. I guess I know what to expect to feel this time so it's easier. Both my husband and son are beginning to be able to feel it also now. Soooo exciting! If your feeling it at 16 weeks then it's just going to continue to get stronger as the days and weeks go on. Isn't it great? Best of luck to you and your baby.
