1 Hour Glucose Test Question

For those of you who have already had this test, did your doctor tell you it was OK or NOT OK to eat beforehand? Mine said it was OK, but I'm hearing that it can skew the test. My blood test is scheduled for 1pm (I have to drink the stuff between 11:50am and NOON), so I'd normally have a bowl of cereal at 9:30. Wondering if that's OK. Thanks!

I haven't heard much about it since I haven't done it other than not to eat or drink something full of sugar, like orange juice, because it can skew the test.

Hi Jersey, I was told to fast for 12 hours before the 1 hr test. Diabetes runs in my family so, dr wanted to make sure I am not pre-diabetic at around 7 weeks itself. do whatever dr said.

My doctor said nothing full of sugar or any fruits the night before and the morning of the test. So I would say cereal is not a good idea just incase. But, my Dr. did not tell me to fast and not eat.

Mine told me not to eat or drink anything before hand except water. I'm not sure how many hr.s before hand I wasn't suppose to eat though b/c my test was in the morning, so I didn't worry about how many hours before hand I couldn't eat, since I had all night and then just didn't eat breakfast.
