21 5 Weeks And Baby S Movements Still Subtle

Gals, I started feeling my little thing move around 18 1/2 weeks. It's been 3 weeks now and though the frequency has increased a lot, the intensity remains the same.I never felt her kicking like a boxer, there're only flutterings and rollings. In my 20 week u/s the dr said I have an anterior placenta and I'm wondering if it could be that.Does anyone have the same situation?Should I worry about it?

Viv, some people don't feel any movement at all until 22 weeks, so I would not worry. If you mean by anterior that the placenta is up front, then mine is too. Mine is around my belly botton. Some people say that the frontal position does buffer the kicks. I usually feel mine lower in my belly, not up where the placenta is. If you are feeling any movement, I'm sure you are fine.

Memphisbaby, yes my placenta is the same as yours.I've seen a lot of people describe the movements as strong kicks by 22 weeks and mine are just really subtle.I hope the baby doesn't have bone problems or anything like that...

No, my girlfriend said she didn't feel her first baby pack a punch till 26 weeks. before that it was regular movement, yes, but more like soft thumps, swishes and rolls. I'm at 24wks and I feel her every day especially after eating, but nothing too intense, just regular thuds, enough to move my belly slightly.

jessica,do you see your belly ripple?i don't see any changes of my belly yet.and the movements are usually in the evenings, after i eat or drink.are you woken up by the movements yet?

Hi viv, I'm 22 weeks and have just started noticing subtle movements...still cannot feel anything from outside, but my doc a__suerd me that it is normal...by 26 weeks these movements wil be more noticable...

Hi kashni, thanks. My dr told me not to worry about movements for now but I just can't relax.I thought after 2-3 weeks since you first felt it the movements should be very strong already.

Hi viv..I am just over 21 weeks also & am only still experiencing subtle movements that are mostly rolling sensations instead of kicks. Also I have to sit or lie down & concentrate to even notice them. Alot of factors come into play here...I was a little heavy before becoming pregnant so I think that may have a little to do with it...I am also very tall & have alot of room through my midsection, so that gives baby extra room...(so much so that I had to be induced with my first pregnancy)..I too sometimes think I should be feeling stronger kicks by now, but then I remind myself of those factors. I do have a doppler at home though so whenever I start to feel too nervous about it, I just pull the doppler out & listen to her heartbeat & then I know all is well.

Hi Stephva,my hubby refuses to buy me a doppler b/c he thinks I'm just being paranoid. And it can be very costy too.Where and how much did you get yours?I'm 5'4 and weighs 108lbs b/f pregnancy,I thought Id feel the movements better...

I actually rented my doppler for $25.00 a month from bellybeats.com.....I have had it since about 12 weeks, and it is very rea__suring & I have always been very successful in finding the heartbeat with it. is this your first? the anterior placenta could have very much to do with you not feeling alot of strong movements, as it will act as somewhat of a "buffer". But the fact that you are feeling something is good..and it can only get stronger!!

I have rented the same dopplar from belly beats. I only use it once a week b/c it does use u/s waves...but it can be very rea__suring.

it is normal if you have an anterior placenta to not feel as much movement...the placenta is cushoning some of the movements. I am 29 weeks and have an anterior placenta and still only feel a great kick every once in a while, otherwise, i feel the soft kicks and her rolling around.

i just found out as well that i have an anterior placenta :( w/ my ds, i felt movement from 19wks on and it just got more intense as the days went on... so i'm a little dissappointed to know that i will not feel this little one nearly as much or as intense as i did w/ ds... my doctor said it was nothing to worry about, it just meant that i wouldn't feel the baby as much because it acts as a cushion between the baby & my belly... good luck!

Ladies, I am 28 weeks...it is only in the last week or so that movement started becoming more consistent. It is still not strong - no one else can see or feel it. I happen to know that my baby is on the small side (as I was when I was born), so that may be a factor as well. As long as you are feeling movement, don't stress - from what I hear, you will miss the relative comfort of the soft movements in no time!
