Am I Showing

Hello, I am 14 1/2 weeks and this is my first pregnancy. I am not sure if I am showing or not it's weird but it seems that my stomach has increased in size over night but not where I expected. It seems that the increase in size has occured above my belly button and below the bottom of my ribs. I have not yet told work that I am pg. I might be a bit parinoid but I swear I have seen several co-workers looking at my stomach and quickly look away. What do you all think and with your 1st pg when did you show.

I dont think that you are showing since your uterus doesnt reach your navel until you are 20 weeks. However, as the uterus grows it pushes your organs up and over so maybe thats what your expierencing. At 14 weeks i had a bit of a pudge in the bottom of the stomach, i am 21 weeks now and definatly looking pregnant. This is my second baby by the way

I think your a little parinoid! :) Only because you know something that they don't know and now you feel that everyone is starring at you. Wear looser fitting clothes if your not ready to tell yet!

I didn't show til I was 25 weeks with my first baby. I'm 5'4" and average sized (120lbs prepregnancy). This pregnancy I started to really poke out at 20 weeks right on the b___ton! I took belly picks at 15, 18 and 20 weeks and you could tell a huge growth difference from 18 to 20 :) hth :)

Hi Dee. I am 13 1/2 weeks and can definitely tell my belly is growing. I have even had a co-worker make a comment about it - and I have been wearing looser clothing. I think it all depends on your body and how you are carrying the weight you have gained. I have gained about 4 lbs (which my dr. says is perfectly healthy) and seem to be carrying it in the same place you are describing. I used to be able to suck it in, lol, but not anymore. And - I was down to my ideal weight b4 I got pg. This is my 2nd pregnancy (1st ended in m/c in Dec. '05). I don't think you're at all paranoid. Most of the reading I have done says you will begin to show around this time. Good luck and happy pregnancy! :)

This is my first pregnancy (22wks now) and I was definitely bloated at 14wks. It wasn't baby bump though, as I couldn't feel my uterus above my pubic bone until almost 15 wks. But, once it came out of pelvic area, it grew like crazy! At 18 wks I had my first stranger ask when I was due - and it hasn't let up since. As for your co-workers, they probably have noticed your waistline has increased and are just curious :)

Jennifer it really doesnt have anything to do with where your carrying your extra weight. Every ones uterus grows with in a certain scale, some are on the higher end and some are on the lower end. At 13 weeks your uterus is no where near your belly b___ton and your baby is only about the size of a jumbo shrimp. I know its an exciting time but its most likely bloating or excess weight gain in the first trimester.

Dee- I know exactly how you feel. I finally told my boss when I was 14 weeks because I felt like a couple of people were giving me strange looks. Turns out after I told them that none of them even knew. Might be paranoia, but at 14 weeks your clothes are probably getting tight and you're wearing shirts out, etc. That's what I felt was giving me away so I ended up telling. You should just tell soon--it's such a relief to finally get it out in the open! GOod luck

I understand that perfectly. But, she says she was feeling paranoid b/c co-workers have been noticing a bulge - I just wanted her to know she isn't crazy - it is there. Weather it is baby or not - she will notice a bulge in her belly.

Jennifer28 - June 1

BTW- She is in the 2nd trimester now - not the first.

cmfqueens - June 1

Yes, this is all true but Dee your probably noticing it way more then others! Don't get me wrong I had a little pouch too but no one really noticed it except for me. Hannahbaby is right your probably just starting to bloat.. (hehe)

Jennifer28 - June 1

My dh, my b/f, my mom, and a co-worker I sit across from have definitely noticed it. Maybe it is those closest to you - I don't know. In the upcoming weeks it will become more and more obvious - even to others not so close to you. I just wanted to let you know, you're not paranoid b/c I have been experiencing the same thing. Although I do agree I am very bloated and also agree that is what the 'pouch' is from.

Thanks all for your comments and it's good to know I am not alone. I just had a co-worker ask if I was expecting she said she noticed the weight gain. I appreciated her being so forward it's better then the stares at my tummy. I definatly think I will be telling my boss within the next week so that I can get it out there.

Everyone gets bigger at different rates. I'm only 6 months gone, but look full term!! Having said that I did look preggers before I fell pregnant, so thats not surprising!

HannahBaby - June 1

i do know that people get bigger at different rates but to be 14 weeks and to think your gettng bigger above your belly b___ton is bloat, or in your head

Jennifer28 - June 1

It definitely could just be bloating, but noticeable to others, no matter what it is from. BTW- This is the email I just received from Baby Center regarding my 13th week... "How your baby's growing: Your belly may soon be big enough to announce to the world that you're expecting, but your baby is still tiny. In fact, he's only about 3 inches long crown to rump — roughly the size of a jumbo shrimp — and weighs just about an ounce..." Dee, w/ you being 14 1/2 wks, you're definitely going to start showing soon. I'm so glad you feel better now. It is probably best to tell others you are pg rather than to let them make their own a__sumptions. Good luck to you!! :)
