I had an amnio at 17 weeks and just got my results-- everything is perfectly normal! I am now 20 weeks and have a check up in a few days.I´m not sure if a Level 2 Ultrasound is necessary after normal results from amnio. Anyone have experience with this?

I just had a level 2 u/s and after they did that they did they amnio. Im 21 wks. preggers. The blood test came out negitive and the cysts they were concerned about are gone but I decided to do the amnio anyways. It couldnt hurt to have the level 2 done. All it does is give them a better idea on how the baby is developing. If your insurance pays for it just have it done if not I would ask your Dr. about it. They may want to do it just to check the organs and such as a precaution. BTW when you had your amnio did it hurt at all? Mine didnt but my stomach felt really heavy afterwards.

HI, it is worth having the level 2 ultrasound the tec will check to see if organs are developing including the brain, heart, kidneys, tummy, face ( to see if lip has formed) and also check the spine. I have not had the amnio but I believe that it can not check the development of all these things.I also had a level 1 scan to check for downs, but at the time the baby was not developed enough to be able to check many other organs. I also took my partner and son along, I am glad I did. We also found out the s_x of the baby so that was an advantage as well. I know that many women do not get to have a level 1 or 2 US so make the most of it if you can.
