So I had an appointment for an ultrasound scheduled for the 5 of June (exaclt y at 20 wks of my pregnancy), but because of finals had to reschedule it. I opted for a little bit earlier because I can't wait (I really want ot know the gender!!!) and made it on the 31st of May (which is only 5 days sooner) Now my mom is telling me that at 19wks 2days they may not be able to see and I'll be disappointed! Is 5 days going to make that much of a difference??? they said to schedule it between 18 and 21 weeks and between 20-21 weeks is finals week for me!!! Someone tell me its ok!!! I feel so worried she's right!

The only way they wouldnt be able to tell at 19 weeks is if the baby doesn't open his/her legs. Otherwise everything is developed enough to determine the s_x. My doctor had me schedule for 19 weeks, but I ended up going for one at 17. They were able to tell then for certain that it was a girl. Good luck with your appt.

The gender become easily detectible at 16 weeks, as long as the baby is cooperating you will see your babys gender. good luck

I had my u/s @ 19wks1day, and we got a great view of our little girl. They were very able to tell, the biggest thing is that the baby is facing the right way, if not you'll have to wait.

I found out at 16w3d and have had several ultrasounds since then, including a level 2 - all confirm it's a boy!! My perinatologist says most docs do them at 20 weeks because all organs are visable, but like HannaBaby says - gender can be easily detected at 16 weeks if the baby's legs are open.
