I am sooo nervous this time about my 20 week ultrasound. I wasn't nervous at all with my son. I lost 3 babies after him (2 ectopics and 1 miscarriage) but they were all early on. I haven't really shared my fears with anyone. Any one else afraid something bad will be revealed? My appointment is tomorrow.

Its natural. At this point in pregnancy we feel so bonded with our babies that we are scared to find out something is wrong. This is the time that people do find out things are wrong because this is the first time many mothers have an ultrasound. I have my 20 week us may 22 and i am nervous, but i know that god wont give me anything that i cant handle. Good luck and keep us posted on your results

I have the same fear. My husband and I had several miscarriages before our daughter was born the baby that we lost before our daughter I went in for the us to find out what the baby was and the dr couldn't find the heart beat. I ended up having A DNC. I do happen to be RH - which is why I suffered so many losses. I have been able to have a healthy daughter and I am now 14 weeks with my second. I just realize that I have to take it one step at at time. I am sure everything will be fine. I think that all mothers have fears their whole pregnancy. I always say a mother worries about her child from the time they find out that their pregnant with them until we die. A mother will always have a worry no matter how old our children get.

I can understand where you are coming from, not knowing if you will go through the same situation you went through before with the ectopics & miscarriage. I hope everything goes well with this pregnancy. I also went through that fear when i had my first miscarriage and was scared that i may go through it again. But it turned out my pregnancy is going fine now that i am 27 weeks pregnant. Hopefully things go weel with your pregnancy! = ]

I am nervous! I was born with a cleft lip. I really hope that my child doesnt have one as well. I know its not the worst thing that could happen, and mine is barely noticeable, but I know what its like growing up with surgeries and questions and teasing. Regular chances are 1 in 700 but mine are 7 in 100. :(

Hi - I'm in the same boat almost. I've had two early m/c's in the past year and am 19 weeks! yay! I had an ultrasound last friday and was extremely nervous to go. I feared so much would be wrong. Baby too small, wrong number of toes, etc etc. But it went fine! 10 fingers and 10 toes - and normal size for gestational age. A huge wieght has shifted off of my shoulders - and into my belly ;) I'm sure you will be fine and so will your baby - chances are so remote now of things going wrong it's not worth worrying about. We all hear the worst case scenarios from everyone - but in reality there's millions of healthy babies born all the time! (ok, thousands) Anyways, congratulations and let us know how it goes :)

I think one reason I am so nervous it the lack of movement I have been feeling. My son was sooooo much more active. I first felt him at 14 weeks (I know that some docs say that is impossible, but IT WAS NOT GAS... ) and felt him everday starting at 16 weeks and progressing from there. I am 19 weeks tomorrow and still not feeling much. I didn't feel anything for sure yesterday. Some of those "could be" feelings in the tummy. I keep thinking about my friend who went in for her ultrasound and the baby had died. She had to go in a deliver the baby. I know that the odds are against it... but the thought is still there. I will update you tonight or tomorrow after the ultrasound this afternoon.

CKSAN, I'm sure everythng will be OK tomorrow, although we're all anxious until we have babies in our arms. I think once you have one loss, you're more prone to worry about subsequent pregnancies. Pls let us know how it goes. Good luck.

My ultrasounds is on Monday and I'm a little nervous. This will be my first ultrasound. I chose to not do the quad screen because of all of the false negatives so this will be the screening for all of the dreaded stuff. This pregnancy was a complete surprise so I wasn't taking my multi-vitamin every day although I was eating a ton of cereal that has folic acid. We're waiting to do any shopping or discuss names until after the ultrasound so we know if it's a boy or girl. That is if the baby cooperates. Here's to happy ultrasounds for all of us!

It's a boy. It was a great ultrasound. My eyes went straight to the heartbeat when the baby came up on the screen. I was sooooo releaved. The nurse commented on my high blood pressure though. I told her I expected it! Thanks for all of your comments guys!

Congrats! I'm so glad everything went well for you two :)

CKSCAN I am so glad it all went well for you! I sympathise with the nerves before the scan I was nervous before my 20 week scan last week-even though I had heard the baby's heartbeat at the midwife's at 16 weeks and had had a great scan at 12 weeks. This is my 4th pregnancy after 3 first trimester miscarrages with no children yet so I guess nerves are natural and I can understand why you were nervous too-I am so sorry for your losses. I am so happy to read your updated post that all was well - congratulations on your baby boy! Your son will love having a little brother to play with! My 20 week scan also went really well-isn't it the most amazing feeling and hugest relief! WIshing you and baby boy all the best :-) xxx
