we hear so much about this but it is so expensive...are there a lot of people out there doing this?

no...I think its a good idea but no one in my family has ever done this. In my family we don't have any kind of illness that runs through my genes. I think someday everyone will do it and it will cure everything but not yet.

We are banking. We used a donor so we worry if anything happened like leukemia, we wouldn't be able to find a match w/in our family.

L, that makes a lot of sense. I would like to, but it is way too expensive for us. Oh well...but I agree with B that it is something that everyone will be doing in the future.

this is an intersenting topic cause yeah it is SUPER expensive and my husband has MS...i wish that it was something that we could do and for his future!! we have gone round and round about what to do....

I mean really isn't it for people who have things that run in the family genes? Plus adopted babies and donors since you never really know the family history...It is interesting topic.....

What are the costs?

i think it will be around 4,000 total for 18 years. however, if you have more than 1 child..it can get expensive. I'm not sure if the cells stay viable for that long..
