Baby Stops Moving

Hello, I am 20+ weeks pregnant with my first child. I have felt the baby move around for about 2 weeks. I even felt one kick the other day like someone was poking me from inside. Since the little kick I have not felt any movement. Is this normal. I am starting to get really scared. I go for my u/s on the 27 (can't wait) so I guess I'll see if everything is okay. I'm just so scared I will go and they will tell me my baby is no longer living. I don't know what to think as this is my first pregnancy

Try not to worry! I was the same way......I started to feel him, and then nothing for a few days. Sometimes they are just quiet...or you're too busy moving to notice them kicking. Just relax and more than likely everything is fine. If it's any consolation, I didn't even feel ANY kicks until about 21 weeks.....for us first time moms it's harder to distinguish what are actual kicks.

Thank you for your reply. It makes me feel a little better to know that other people experience this. I still can't wait for the u/s though. I want to see my baby healthy and moving.

Yeah, I am 22 weeks and just had the u/s about 10 days ago. The funny thing is I could feel a lot of movement before that, but for the past 4-5 days, there hasn't been much. There has been SOME though, so I think that's the main thing. Everyone says sometimes they don't move for days at a time. It's hard not to worry, but the scary thing is that after the baby is actually born is when the REAL worrying begins!

Jamie, I've been experiencing the same thing (I'm 21 weeks). I asked about this at my most recent prenatal visit and was told that it's perfectly normal at this stage. I think everything's probably okay. Good luck with your ultrasound...are you going to find out the s_x of the baby? I had mine on Dec. 6, and we're having a girl!

I'm in my 28th week. You are still really early for movement so it isn't always consistant. I have had many days in a row every couple of weeks where there was either no movement(around 23 weeks) and now the movement is sometimes less or weaker than I think it should be and worry. The baby is fine though. I know it is hard not to worry, but it happens to us all.

Jamie try not to worry, I'm 24 weeks and I had a panic attack the other day because I hadn't felt movement for almost 24 hours. But when I called my dr. they did an ultrasound and baby is fine. He's just in a different position where I can't feel him. Try not to worry, I know it's hard!! :)

Thank you for your replies. I am going to find out the s_x of the baby (if baby cooperates), but I really just want to know everything is okay.

Me 2!! Im 19 wks pg and sometimes I don't feel my baby moving or poking movements inside me......Sometimes I even think "if im still pg"? coz Im not feeling my baby sometimes. Or perhaps Im still too early??

Angie - December 26

Hi Tess, 19 weeks is still early to feel the baby. If you reach 24 weeks and there is still nothing then you will probably want to call your doc so they can do an ultrasound. However, if you are really worrying, call the doc and see if he'll give you an ultrasound to put your mind at ease. My doc is really good about that when I worry. He said he'd rather give me the ultrasound and set my mind at ease then let me worry about it because it isn't good for the baby. Although we all know as mothers to be that it is impossible not to worry!
