Bulging Disk

I am seven weeks pregnant and have a preexisting herniated disk in my low back. I found out that I had it in November after being laid up from an ectopic pregnancy; it flared up. After numerous Dr. visits and an MRI I found out what it was and then with exercise and stretching I got stabilized again. Now I am worried about what getting bigger will bring for pain. My goal was to loose weight before pregnancy so it might be easier on the back but it didn't turn out that way :) My husband was a little bit eager. Anyone else have a herniated disk? Were you at an ideal weight before pregnancy? How is it now?

Hello lisarenee, I have a herniated disc that has been operated on. Still have back pains and problems. I am now 14 weeks. I was slightly overwieht to begin with and have gained 2 kg - 4.4lb :-) I have been having back pain but hard to tell if its more than normal cause I'm not taking any pain killers. Although sciatica HAS been worse. Surgeon said it really depends on person, sometimes the extra weight can actually put your body in a better position and take the weight of disc... then of course it can go the other way, its a waiting game really! Good luck! :-)
