Depression During Pregnancy 2nd Trimester

Has anyone been put on an anti-depressant while pregnant? I haven't had any real morning sickness with baby #2 but I've been awfully sad as of late. And not just 'a little blue' or 'moody'. When I talked to my doctor, because I was a little scared about my feelings, she put me on Zoloft (?) and when I took the script to the pharmacist, she said it was a class 'c' drug - meaning it has been shown to cause some problems in animal testing, but not human. I'm still nervous. Don't know what to do. Thoughts anyone?

My friend was put on Zoloft with her first pregnancy and now again with her second. My OBGYN told me if I was to stay on MY antidepressants, that she would want me weaned off of them by the 3rd trimester or the last few weeks before birth.

The reason they want you to go off in the 3rd trimester is so that the baby's don't suffer withdrawls after birth.

I take paxil which is only a level B drug(the same as tylonal) It's the same type of thing as zoloft, My Doc says I'll be fine plus if your depressed now you run a greater risk of ppd, talk to Doc about your conserns and see what she says, it might give you some reinsurance.Good luck, just remember you have to take care of yourself too, if your not doing ok your baby won't be either.I don't think your doc would put you on something unless you need it, I know mine wouldn't.
