Hey ladies, has anyone done lengthy research about fish oil supplements? I've done enough research to conclude that I will take the supplements to enhance baby brain developent. especially to be taken in second half of pg or last three months. but can not come to a conclusion on which brand is best for pregnant women. i know no cod oil for the vit A aspect, and to watch out for type of fish for mercury levels. and i found one at shopper drug mart that has tested for mercury etc. but still not sure which is the best brand for pregnant women......has anyone else spoken to a proffessinal abotu this and have any insight? btw i'm in canada so if anyone has a brand that they like here or any insight etc would be so greatly appreciated.

ok dokay that's awesome thanks tanya. i'm now 22 weeks, and last ultrasound the baby had it's legs closed....so we didn't get to see. i was so disappointed because i had been looking forward to finding out for a month before. how's little miriam?? btw i wnated to ask you, did that girl ever contact you?? i gave her your email address. it's too bad, i think you could have really helped her. ok so wild salmon fish oil...i was taking one with a high dha, and it was tested for mercury, and it was salmon anchovies, and tuna...what do you think of that one?? and i think it was the jamison ones the green and white bottles...

Take a DHEA supplement instead of straight fish oil. Enfamil makes one for pregnancy, so you won't have to worry about the mercury levels. If you go to vitacost dot com and type in fish oil, the first supplement that comes in has no heavy metals (mercury) and I love this brand. They make my prenatals and they are some of the best prenatals I've seen anywhere. Here is the link directly to it. vitacost.com/NSI-Mega-EFA-Omega-3-EPA-DHA-240-Softgels

Hi Sims, I followed tanya's suggestions from the start and am glad I took the fish oil supplement. I use on from alocal natural foods store and it is a brand that I don't think is available nationally. Almost all brands now test for mercury and pcb's, etc. I called the 800 #s on a few in the beginning when I was researching and found they all test and that is not so much a worry nowadays. The Expecta by Enfamil (the DHA one) that sarah mentioned is great, but I chose to do the fish oil because it contains EPA too (the Enfamil brand does NOT have EPA in it) and the EPA is very important to get too. Congrats on the pregnancy!!!

Awesome info ladies. I really appreciate it. I'm almost thinking what i'm taking might be pretty good. it's pretty high in DHA content. But i'm going to check out what you and tanya suggested. btw thank you stefkay, congrats to you too.

lol little buggers. i think my next ultrasound will be in the thrid tri unless we do decide to go with the 3d scan. still debating that. so i'll eventually find out. doesn't matter anymore, i love it no matter what. so i heard about miriam's 'rasberry' noise infatuation lol. that's so darned cute. you've got a pt i never thought of calling them. i'll go ahread do so. it had the highest contect of dha, so that's why i picked it....everythings good so far. can't wait till the baby is born, i kind of want my body back...i feel like i'm in constant slow motion.
