I am 23 weeks pregnant, and my leg hair has practically stopped growing. It's actually really nice because I shaved over a week ago, but it still feels like I shaved just this morning. I haven't heard of this being a pregnancy side effect, so I just wondered if this was happening to anyone else.

Mines quite the opposite!! I look like a wooley mammoth! It's the hair on my head that keeps thinning. I'm kinda the exact opposite of everything that's "supposed" to happen during pg.....except for the morning sickness!!!

I am 24 weeks and my leg hair practically stopped growing also. But the hair on my head actually stopped falling out after I got pregnant.

Mine hasn't stopped growing completely, but slowed down a lot. I used to have to shave every day, now I can go three or four days without even getting stubble. Too bad I know it won't last after the pregnancy!

Mine has also slowed down but I wouldn't mind if it stopped completley.

I was pregnant in the summer time and my hair did not grow on my legs either! It was great. All the nutrients go to the baby and not to you, so it stops hair growth a lot of times. I didn't shed hair from my head either. But at 3 mos pp I started shedding like crazy. The body sheds and replenishes then because all the nutrients are going to you once again. I was stunned at first, but it was nice not to have to shave in the summer with my huge old belly!

I'm the same as Drew, I have to wear a skirt for work and i waxed on Friday, its now monday and I will have to do them again.

wow u must be lucky!! i would like it to stop and never come back.. i would save time in doing other stuff rather than waxing and shaving

Mine kinda of slowed down which I dont complaint about it.

Did any of u find any connection between the rate of hair growth on legs and the s_x of the baby?

Drew - January 3rd, 2006 1:07 PM

I have another u/s today, hopefully we can see what this little one is. I'll let you know when I get back, but I'm not sure the gender can be connected to hair growth. It would be kinda neat though!

25 WKS - January 3rd, 2006 1:57 PM

MINE HAVE STOPPED GROWING. I SHAVE MAYBE 3 TIMES A MONTH AND I HARDLY HAVE ANY STUBBLE! ITS GREAT

karen - January 3rd, 2006 2:23 PM

Actually I wondered about the gender connection too. I found out I'm having a girl, so maybe people who are having boys produce extra testosterone that makes hair grow faster? All I know is I'm loving this not having to shave thing!

Hannah - January 3rd, 2006 2:26 PM

I am 25 weeks and virtually no hair growth either. this is awesome. :)

Heather L - January 3rd, 2006 2:46 PM

to karen: I had 2 boys and my leg hair grew as normal. I am now expecting a GIRL and my hair hasn't really grown at all. I am almost 23 wks and I've shaved maybe 3 times my whole pregnancy!

Nita - January 3rd, 2006 4:54 PM

my leg hair seems to be growing at a much slower pace too! Am kinda very glad about that! :)

Suzanne - January 3rd, 2006 5:30 PM

I am 22 weeks, my leg hair almost stopped growing and I am having a boy! You just never know.
