Hello everyone, I am asking this question for my wife who is 18 weeks and 3 days pregnant. She came down with a cold today, she has a soar throat, and nasal congestion, and just feels pretty icky. She wants to know if the baby feels the way she does, and how it is effecting our baby. Anyone know? TIA!!!

I am sure baby will be fine, my doctor told me that when you get something like that during pregnancy, your body automatically puts heaps of energy into keeping baby safe, often to the point where it will take longer for you to recover.

What can you take for a cold when you are pregnant? Thanks.

Hope your wife is better soon.

Anon, you can take Robitussin cold medicine. My Doctor states that this is probably the best to take if you need to take something. Dimetapp is okay too but he said to stay away from Sudafed, if possible, even though some Doctors reccomend - I forget the reasons behind this. I recently was sick and was better in just a couple of days. My Mom told me that her colds were always shorter while she was pregnant.
