HEART RATE AND GENDER

CAN THE HEART RATE REALLY DETERMINE THE SEX OF A BABY? I WENT FOR A SONO AND THE DOC TOLD ME THAT THE HEART BEAT WAS 170 BPM. I WAS ALMOST 13 WEEKS WHEN THIS WAS DONE AND A WEEK LATER IT WAS STILL THE SAME WITH A DOPLER.

My ultrasound tech told me that she has never seen enough consistency with heart rates to determine what the baby's s_x will be. She said that a baby's heart rate depends on their activity at the time. The more activity-the higher the rate and visa versa. My baby's rate the first time was 158 and he/she? was very active. The second time it was about 140, but I think he/she? was not as active. But then again, some women swear by that method of determining the s_x. I guess it is all based on personal experience and opinion.
