How Do You Calculate Weight Gain

Hi gals, I have a silly question. In my first trimester I ended up losing 8 pounds due to really bad m/s. I have now started to gain some of that weight back - 3 pounds so far. I know that I am supposed to gain 25 - 35 pounds during the entire pregnancy. Is that amount calculated from my lowest weight during pregnancy, or from my weight before I lost the 8 pounds?

This is a really good question...I was wondering the same thing!

usually calculated from the weight you started at when you conceived, or if conception date is unknown, then the weight you were at during your last period. I only gained 19 pounds with my son and that was just fine. Some can get away with less of a gain. You will catch up, don't worry.

Thanks mnmom. I want to gain closer to 25 than 35 since I put on about 10 pounds due to fertility drugs before i got pregnant. I went online and NO ONE seems to have a clear answer to this question.

It's usually from your prepregnancy weight. =)
